Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash.

I’ll confess, I’m a hand/body lotion junkie. That tight feeling of just-washed skin makes me *seriously* crazy, and I usually make a mad dash for the lotion as soon as I hang up my towel. I panic if I realize I’ve left the house without my little tube of hand lotion in my purse. So when the nice people at Dove offered me some samples of their new moiturizing body wash to try, I was game, but skeptical. I tend to avoid using shower gels or body washes much, even though my skin is not particularly dry, just because I hate that soap-scrubbed feeling so much.

I was surprised when not one, but three different Dove body washes arrived. In addition to the Deep Moisture, they also included the Gentle Exfoliating and Sensitive Skin formulas. I decided to start with the Deep Moisture formula. The first thing I noticed was that the liquid feels more like a lotion than a soap. It felt very soothing on my skin and rinsed off easily, even with our hard water. The fragrance is nice too, but doesn’t linger after rinsing (a plus). My skin did not have that tight, dry feeling once I dried off, and felt softer. Living in a low-humidity climate, I’ll probably never give up my body lotion entirely, but no longer feel the urgent need to slather it on immediately after every shower.

You can watch a video about the new ingredient “Nutrium” here. I do think this product is a huge improvement over other moisturizing body washes I’ve tried. (Now, if they’ll consider removing the foaming agents…hint, hint.) I’ll try the other formulas and report back, but the Deep Moisture formula gets 4 out of 5 ♀♀♀♀’s.

If you’ve tried this, let me know what you think!

  1. Yes, I remember when we were at Angelina’s when you returned from the “Ladies’ Room” you put lotion on your hands and I thought: “There is one smart femme; I think I’ll start doing the same thing.”

You also replaced your gloss. Do you want to tell us about that?

    Tishxo

  2. I’m not surprised: I find Dove products remarkably good for their price. I use their moisturising shampoo and conditioner for colour-treated hair and it makes my hair very nice indeed; a relief not to always have to use expensive salon conditioners because I need a lot of them – thick, curly hair.

The verification word is “mallized”. Transformed into malls?

  3. I’m just the same when it comes to hand lotion — feel really uncomfortable if I can’t find some in my purse.
What about the scent of this Dove product? That’s always a deal maker or breaker for me.

  4. I’ve used the Sensitive Skin formula. Its quite nice, foams up really well on a wash cloth, and leaves my skin soft. My husband got me to switch from soap to body wash, and the Dove products are nice. I’ve not tried the hair products tho.

  5. Ah ha – interesting – I dont think this product is yet in UK – I will have to scour the shelves of Boots the pharmacy. Am like you too though – have to put on body lotion immediately after a shower or bath otherwise my lower legs would resemble a croc’s skin!

  6. Pseu, I have been a Dove girl literally all my life, my grandmother’s bathroom always had Dove soap and I have used it ever since. The smell of Dove soap just makes me happy, when DH bought me the unscented kind, I used it up, but it just wasn’t the same. And I have really beautiful skin, not saying this to brag but to say that at 54 I never used anything except Dove soap and now Gold Bond Ultimate moisturizing cream. Go figure. So thanks for the recommendation, I trust your judgement!

  7. tishjett – it was probably my Clarins lip balm, a freebie from my Clarins BFF at Bloomingdales. When that runs out, it’s back to Smith’s Rosebud Salve which is far less expensive and seems to work just as well to prevent chapping. I’ve been a lip balm junkie since childhood. Chapstick is a gateway drug, I tell you!

lagatta – oh, I’ll have to try the shampoo. I’ve been using Pert for colored hair and am quite happy with that right now, but I know it’s good to switch periodically.

materfamilias – the smell is like, well, soap. Like the old Dove bar soap, or Cashmere Bouquet. It’s very inoffensive.

  8. Jeanne – good to know, thanks!

Anoninoz – yep, croc legs here too!

metscan – I actually haven’t tried their deodorant, but may once my current one runs out.

  9. Maravonda – I’m the same way about Jergens lotion (LOVE the original honey/almond scent) and the old Joy dishwashing liquid. Scent has the ability to trigger our most intense memories! This is one of the first Dove products I’ve used, but I’ll probably try others now.

Couture Allure – I really appreciate bottles that can stand on end. It seems their body washes have a lot of loyal customers.

Bonjour Madame – Let me know how you like it. I really think this is a good product, and a good value for the price.

  10. I bought the Dove deodorant today, should have read your post first. Now I´ll have to wait and do my shopping on Friday, as I try to not use my car every day and thus be more environmental ; )

  11. I’ve just began using the Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash and I agree with you that it doesn’t leave my skin with that yucky tight feeling. I did try the Gentle Exfoliating the week before but found it didn’t have enough moisture to it. I empty out a small plastic liquid soap container with a pump and put my body wash it in so I don’t have to fiddle around with the bulkly container. And – regarding shampoo – you just might love the Redken Color Extend shampoo for color treated hair. It too goes into a small plastic liquid soap container – both of which fit nicely in my corner niche in my shower.

  12. I’ve been using Dove Body Wash for years and still love it! My only complaint is the shape of the new bottle. You can’t store it lid down so the product is always right there for you, especially when you’re running low. The old bottle had a flat top.

  13. I’m the same way about scents…the original Jergens was my very first hand lotion as a tweener (Mom gave me a little manicure kit in my stocking in an effort to get me to quit biting my nails), and the original scent (no other will do, although their very nice) makes me very happy and nostalgic.

  14. That tight feeling isn’t natural. If you used petroleum-derivatives less, your skin could still use moisturizer but it wouldn’t be an emergency. Avoid any lotion with mineral oil is the easiest, and use real soap and not liquid detergents. Next time you’re in Paris, check out Petit Marseillais soaps, divine and cheap. You could probably find l’Occitane products at your nearest expensive LA mall.
