Eileen Fisher 'Rock Star' Ponte Knit Jeans
Eileen Fisher ‘Rock Star’ Ponte Knit Jeans

They’re ba-a-a-a-ack….the most flattering comfortable (or comfortable flattering?) pants I’ve ever worn. These ponte knit jeans are fabulous for travel, too: washable and dress up or down.

(They don’t yet seem to be available in Petites or Women’s, but will post a link once they are.)

  1. Love me some EF ponte. Still have every pair I’ve ever bought. The straight leg crepe pant is wonderful, too!

  2. How timely this is for me! I am looking for a style of pant that will tuck into my knee high boots comfortable and these look like they will. I am in love with ankle pant which seem to be the most flattering style for me. Chico’s and Coldwater Creek have jeans, both colored and denim, that are my everyday choice.

I didn’t get to comment yesterday on your outfit. It is wonderful. You have really perfected a style in the past year since I began reading your blog. I hope I can articulate a style for me that is as well-suited and executed as beautifully as yours.

  3. I want to try these pants now, I will check them out next time I’m at Bloomie’s! And your last post was great. I totally ignore the bloggers who say “Xyz is so out” especially when it comes to accessories, my first reaction is always, Oh yeah? Who cares what you think?! I still love the Balenciaga bag, I see it a good deal in Manhattan and Brooklyn and it always looks stylish, and it looks wonderful on you! I also love your KDT bracelet, now I want one! XO, Jill

  4. Could you give us some sizing tips on this particular pair of pants Susan? Did you go down a size from your regular size. I read that they are low rise, so my question is: How low rise?
I also have my favorite pair of EF ponte pants (but they are not jeans). I bought a new gray pair for fall because my old EF gray pants pilled badly. If the new pair pills, I will return them. I am hopeful since the fabric seems somewhat different from my first pair.

I agree with others–you have never looked better. Love your blond hair on you!

    1. Susan, with last year’s model, I actually went up a size from normal, as I prefer these just a little less snug. But I’d suggest trying a couple of sizes to see which you prefer.

  5. Oh these would work so well in my new wardrobe. I am starting almost from scratch having lost 20 pounds. I hope they will come in petite. We have an EF shop in vancouver so a ferry ride will be in order when they are available!

  6. I ordered the 5 pocket ponte knit pant from NYDJ. They have petites, but order a size down. I have mine and they are SO flattering and at a good price point: 98.00. I ordered them straight from NYDJ and avoided state tax and there was free shipping.

  7. I’ve noticed you have quite a few Eileen Fisher pieces. What do you think of the quality? I don’t usually spend much money on clothes but I’m trying to be more mindful of where my clothes come from. Is Eileen Fisher worth the price? By the way, I’m loving your new hair color. It really suits you.

    1. Hi Mindy, with a very few exceptions, I think the quality of EF pieces is quite good. I have some I’ve worn for years. I wash most in cold water either by hand or on the gentle cycle, and line dry (except the jeans). Some of the looser weave knit sweaters can be prone to snagging, but I’ve found that with a bit of care and pulling the snag inside with a crochet hook, they look just fine. If the garment care tag says “dry clean only” I abide by that, but very few of them do.

    2. As someone who knits, I can knit a high quality sweater for 1/10th the price they are asking in stores. I purchased the Eileen Fisher alpaca sweater. Why? It would cost be about 200+ dollars for the yarn alone and then there is the knitting. Alpaca yarn is not cheap. It may take me several months to complete a sweater and the finishing process is very tedious. I do take pride in my work, but budget at least 300.00 for yarn. So when I see a sweater under that price that is well made and using gorgeous yarn, I feel comfortable with the purchase. I examine seams and the rib knit on the sleeves and all “finishing” details. The alpaca sweater is a good value and well made. Her other clothes are work horse pieces and the harem is a personal favorite of mine. The E.F. design of this piece has managed to transcend the “rapper’ look and is VERY chic. I was told how to move the legs up on them to form a balloon skirt, but I just like them as harem. With a cropped kimono top and obi belt, I have received many complements. I still like to get compliments.

  8. I loved Eileen Fisher and started purchasing her clothing about a decade or so ago. Many of the pieces are in good shape. I also hand wash cold and dry flat. I find her clothing line a good value and her scarves are gorgeous. Her earlier lines were fun and stylish. Then, they had a bit of a dowdy overtone. Perhaps, it was just my take on it. This year, Eileen Fisher has returned with a dynamic collection that really appeals to me. I have purchased several pieces and I am delighted with them. There is something for everyone and she has a good size range petites, classic, and woman. To offset the blacks and greys, there are brilliant blues, fig (purple) and peridot. I can’t wait for Fall! FYI: Best clothes for traveling ever made!

  9. Way off topic but just wanted to let you know that I tried to subscribe using the Feedly button but no luck. It took me to a page with a ‘+ add to my feedly’ green button but nothing happened when I hit it. Very frustrating. I subscribed no problem previously but after the update to the blog, I’m unable to subscribe on iPad or on my Mac. I now get the blog via email which is not as effective especially on the iPad. Any suggestions are very welcome. Thanks.

    1. Hi Laura, I’m so sorry you’re having trouble with the subscription. I just tried it…went to my Feedly icon, clicked on “+Add Content” and then typed in https://unefemmenet.wpengine.com in the search field that opened up. It seemed to populate correctly. (With the new blog, there’s no “www” in the web address.)

      1. Thanks for the help. I’m now getting the blog on my ipad via Feedly, must have used the wrong address on my other attempts. Definitely don’t want to miss any of your posts!

  10. Have you tried the waxed jeans from EF’s fall line? They’re tempting, but I’m wondering how practical they are, especially for those of us who aren’t 6′ tall size 0 models. I’d go try them on, but the closest store with EF if about 2 hours away. Any thoughts about the fall line in general are welcome!

    1. Cafelatte, yes I did try the waxed jeans. They looked great on, but I decided to pass as I felt they’d be limited to mostly evenings out, which aren’t frequent enough in our lives to justify the purchase. If I thought I’d be comfortable wearing them to work, I would have snapped them up. The waxed moto jacket on the other hand…. 😉

  11. I love the idea of these, but my shape is not flattered by a skinny-jean sillhouette. Hoping there is a wide leg or trouser-style… going to look now!

  12. I also would love to know whether these get baggy after the first couple of wears … I am having very bad luck with stretch pants lately. I’d be willing to invest the money if they keep their shape.

And I agree, you are looking gorgeous.

  13. I was very intrigued by your recommendation and tried these on today. Unfortunately they did not work for me. The rise was very low on me. I had to size down to get the fit (which didn’t help with the rise). The quality was outstanding! The fabric was thick and had stretch – it hid a multitude of issues 🙂 I can not speak to how the stretch would hold up over the day but I suspect very well. While I was in the dressing room, I tried on the waxed jean. A great fit on me – the rise was just right. The fabric had a great sheen, was sturdy but with a lot of stretch.
