Foulard de la semaine
Oui, Virginia, you really can wear scarves when the weather gets warmer.
This is a “Liberty of London” very sheer silk scarf, probably at least 50 years old, one of the few I inherited from my grand-mère that’s actually a color I can wear. (She was very fond of blue-reds, which make me look jaundiced.)
See? Very sheer.
Edited to add: if anyone can give me some tips on indoor digital photography to eliminate the pernicious yellow tint, I’d be much obliged. I’ve done some color correcting on the computer, but it only goes so far.

LBR – thanks!
It’s still scarf weather here, especially mornings and evenings.
Lovely scarf! It’s still almost cold enough here to wear my hand-knitted mufflers! Seriously though, I have adding some colorful scarves with a little weight to them to my jackets these days to keep the chill off.
Bee-yoo-tee-full scarf. Just love it.
As far as the camera goes, are you using a flash? That should help balance your colors somewhat.
Lovely, and so perfect for summer.
Sorries, Miss J’s got nothin’ regarding for correcting the photo problem.
Love chiffon scarves, not so easy to find. Vintage Liberty is a treasure… the silk square I brought my mother from London was in ’75 in her drawer. She had not worn it in Florida, now I will.
kelly – thanks! Yes, warmth and to ward off hyperactive air conditioning are two very good reasons to wear scarves!
Style-spy, thank you. I’ve tried with and without flash, but not much difference as far as the yellow tone goes. I think I just need a better camera. Maybe one of those Nikon’s that Ashton is hawking. 🙂
miss janey – thank you.
duchesse – it’s true, the chiffon scarves are pretty rare these days, especially with a nice hand-rolled hem. I’ve started perusing ebay to try to find more for summer.
So nice to have such a pretty memento from your grand-mère.
I did buy a summer weight scarf that I haven’t been able to wear yet. But, once I am in L.A. I plan to were it everyday to compensate.
Ooh, Miss Janey, that one looks like fun! You may not know this about me, but I have some mad crazy haiku skillz.
Usually digital cameras will have a setting to correct for tungsten light. You might just need to poke around in your menus — it’ll probably be called ‘white balance.’ Then just choose the tungsten setting and you can shoot indoors even without a flash. Love your blog, by the way, and great scarf!
audi – thank you!!! If the “tungsten” setting is the little light bulb symbol, then I’ve got it. And I’ve just tested and the color is MUCH better, even without the flash. Thanks again!!!
Still nothing regardng yellowing but you’ve been tagged by The Mrpeenee Auto Haiku Tag Meme . In the future, remember the importance of Safe Blogging. This thing is spreading like wildfire.
Looking forward to your crazy Haiku skillz. For fun I’ve been playing along with The Mrpeenee Haiku Tag Meme at home, and have had hours of amusement, better than Spamku. Soooo much material to choose from. Glad someone helped with the camera white balance issue. My old digital cam didn’t have that tungsten bulb feature, but I dug around and found it on my new cam. So a big thanks to audi too!
Oh, spot, you’ve got to send those to me!!!
