Room With A View

Room Vegas, Paris Las Vegas

Those of you who follow me on une femme’s Facebook page or Instagram have figured it out… we’re in Las Vegas (or Lost Wages as some refer to it 😉 ).  We’re belatedly celebrating le monsieur’s birthday which was earlier this month, so he picked the location and the hotel. It’s the first time we’ve had a balcony here, and with the lovely weather I think we’ll be enjoying it plenty.

We also have a view of the Bellagio fountains if we crane our necks just a bit.

Last night before dinner we enjoyed a cocktail at the Sinatra bar,

then played a bit of blackjack at the Encore casino. We had a couple of very fun and nice dealers, and actually walked away from the tables up a bit!

I also (fueled by that Manhattan) tried on a dress at Oscar de la Renta just for grins. People, there’s a reason why he is considered a maestro. The fit, construction and details were amazing. No, I did not buy it. If I had a life that included charity luncheons and cocktail parties, it might have been tough to walk away.

We’d left LA fairly early in the day in order to avoid weekend traffic on the I-15, and enjoyed beautiful weather and lovely desert scenery.

And if you’re driving between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, the best place to stop for lunch is The Mad Greek Cafe. The gyro’s and salads are quite good, and the coffee is excellent.

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

  1. Would love to see that dress….looks like you have some warm sunny weather which makes any getaway much more pleasant.
Good to see that you are relaxing in style!

  2. Oh, and to echo Val Sparkle – I’ve been to Vegas three times, and each time I enjoyed it a lot, but it’s funny, I am now “over” it. I can’t say why, exactly, but it’s true. I have no desire to ever go there again, even though I had a nice time.

  3. Manhattans are my favorite “go to” cocktail when we are out on special occasions. I had 2 when we went dancing at The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island…$16 each. Thank goodness they were good.

    Enjoy your mini vacation.

  4. I wish monsieur could have snapped a photo of you in that dress. I was in Vegas at a conference in the ’80s. I’d heard it had gotten a bit built up since then. Your photos confirm it. Hope you had a great time.
