Conundrum Conquered

What I Didn’t Wear.

Our Dodger game outing turned out to be a pretty good time. The suite was great, the Dodger Dogs were yummy, and there was a pastry cart with -among other choices- an incredible red velvet cake. (But we won’t talk about that.)

Everyone should have something in their closet that’s a go-to outfit when one is feeling a little uncertain, is too preoccupied to try to pull together a coherent ensemble, or just needs a boost and to feel totally, utterly aligned between inner and outer selves. For me, that outfit consists of black trousers, a black knit top (fabric and cut dependent on climate), a scarf and/or jacket. Boring? Probably. Safe? Definitely, but sometimes we need that kind of solid certainty, and this was one of those days. I ultimately went the black BR Jackson cotton trousers, this top in black, and this week’s foulard de la semaine. We mostly ended up sitting on the outside balcony, but we were shaded and the sun wasn’t too hot, so I wasn’t regretting the 3/4 sleeves.

“Celebrity” sighting: Snoop Dogg, who threw out the first pitch and then was hanging out in the balcony of the suite next door to ours. Without the bikini-clad babes that so often seem to be grafted to him.

I didn’t have a dog in this fight, but the Dodgers did beat the Rockies, 3-1. The Rockies’ fielding was generally much better, but the Dodgers got lucky off a couple of errors and one home run.

Casual chic from Pseu! The scarf personified the cost per wear rule, non?

How funny. Miss J’s work associates attended a Dodger game night before last and she too was in a suite. Miss J does not know what she wore but she is certain Deja’s scarf was probably the most awesome thing in her suite. Cool star sighting, too.

Oh, to be able to go to an evening event–even semi-sheltered, even indoor–wearing only a lovely cotton tee, slacks, and foulard. I’m going to CalShakes in Orinda next weekend and will be bringing a wool sweater and parka for when the sun goes down and the fog rolls in.

Sometimes I miss living in L.A.

    materfamilias – thanks!

miss janey – thanks! Watching the game from a suite will spoil you forever.

nancyf – actually it was an early afternoon event. Had it been an evening event I probably would have brought along a jacket as well.

LBR – why thank you! It seems that Manny Rodgriguez do-rags (complete with long dreds) and other Dodger-wear were the hot fashion trends among most of the stadium goers. And yes, having a failsafe “uniform” or two has saved my sanity on more than one occasion.

As Miss Janey said, I am sure you were the chicest one in yours or any box there.

I need to create more go to outfits. You have just created a fashion goal for me. Merci!
