Here and There

Business Casual Uniform - Default Setting

One of the main factors that finally stirred me off my stump to migrate the blog to WordPress was my frustration over Blogger’s limited options for dealing with comment spam. It truly pained me to have to shut off anonymous comments. I hope this commenting format is less restrictive. I did receive one email yesterday from someone who was having trouble commenting. Right now I have comment moderation turned on for the first comment from any reader. After your first comment is approved, your subsequent comments should appear right away. I’m hoping this will work long-term; if not I may need to turn on moderation for all comments. If anyone is receiving error messages or not able to post comments at all, please email me at and I’ll get the IT department on it right away. 😉

On another note, we’re still working on getting feeds for new posts to re-direct. So you may not be seeing new posts in your reader if you “followed” the old blog. If you’d like to be sure not to miss new posts in the meantime, you can re-add to your blog roll or reader as (no www). Thanks!

And There…

My monthly guest post is up over at Already Pretty, wherein I share my go-to items for Business Casual during warmer months. Do you have a go-to strategy for dressing for summer work days?

Your new blog is very crisp. I like it! On a technical note, reading this on an iPad I find that your photo above obscures the search box at right and also the side subtitle etc.

Thanks! Yes, the ipad display is still less than optimal. We’ll continue to try to improve it.

Just checking to see if I can post. And I love the summer uniform.

My warm weather teaching “uniform” is a cardigan and tee worn with ankle cropped pants or a skirt. Even when I’m teaching online, I still put on my “uniform.” There’s something about being dressed for the job that makes me think “ok, time to work.”

Thanks for the heads up on the website change. I recently started using Feedly (desktop and iphone) and love it! And now, here you are!

I am totally loving this work casual outfit. Are we twins? I would select all the same things, ha ha! XO, Jill

I love the new look, but am not enjoying the change to the links to other blogs. There used to be a short description under the blog title, so I could choose those I wanted to look at during my lunch hour at work. Now there are only blog titles and I don’t know who is writing about what. I don’t have favorites really. I just enjoy browsing. Can you bring back the short decriptions?

      Hi Debbie,

We’re working on this but it’s not quite as simple to set up as I’d hoped. It may take a while but I’ll do my best to get it up and working again.

I love your site – but I’m not allowed to wear jeans to work, any season, any time, no matter how nice they are. Can you try to show more outfits with pants other than jeans? I would love it, as your style is so great. Thanks!

Great new site, and great outfit, you look super in Black, and the shoes are drop dead gorgeous!

Welcome to the wonderful world of WordPress! If you find you get too many sp&*$m comments, I wholeheartedly recommend Akismet. There’s a small yearly fee for individual blogs, but it’s worth every penny. It’s caught thousands of comments for me automatically (those sp@mmers sure do keep busy).
