Unique luxuries: silk scarves and French gifts

A new shape in silk scarves, and how to tie them!

My friends at CASTANOHEL have been busy these last few months designing and launching their new line of luxury silk scarves.

Their original designs are manufactured in Italy, and are absolutely stunning. One of the first styles they rolled out are these long, double-sided scarves. If you love the look and feel of silk scarves, but sometimes find the classic squares challenging to tie, you are going to love these!

You can tie them just as would any rectangle scarf. Because the ends are cut on the diagonal, they drape beautifully. And being double-sided, they look good no matter how you arrange them.

Here’s a little video I put together, with two quick and easy ties:

There are other styles too, and more coming soon. They do ship to the US, and I’ve found it’s pretty quick.

Let’s dive in, shall we?

My Stylish French Box for November gifts include stationary and pretty pen. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

I love the feel of a quality pen in hand, and one of my favorite items in this box was a pretty roller pen from Oberthur. Perfect to go with the fun stationary from Monsieur Papier.

Details from November My Stylish French Box: a fabric pouchette, Celine Escand lotion, antique crystal pendant on velvet ribbon. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

I find cloth pouchettes a pretty and practical way to stay organized. And I often buy them as souvenirs and gifts when I travel. This one is from Maison Baluchon and is a perfect size to use for cosmetics or to corral tech accessories in your handbag. The lotion from Céline Escand is heavenly! Very rich (but not greasy) with a very light fragrance (that won’t fight with your perfume).

Rouge Francais lipstick from My Stylish French Box. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

There’s a lipstick from Rouge Français, and this soft and warm cashmere shawl.

There are more fun gifts in this box…you can pop over to My Stylish French Box for more details. These boxes make wonderful and unique gifts, and Sharon is now taking orders for the February box.

And if there’s a particular item you’re interested in, she also has many individual items (some from past boxes) in the MFCH Boutique, all from French brands.

Be sure to check out My French Country Home Magazine, available in both print and digital versions. It’s chock full of French lifestyle inspiration: recipes, decor, travel destinations, and more.

  1. You look so terrific in scarves, and I envy you that, but wearing silk around my neck feels too warm most of the year. In the winter, it’s not warm enough. C’est la vie!

  2. Is there any sort of introductory offer/deal…aka percentage off for the new line of the castanohel scarves ? It is a lovely and thanks so much for the video. An offer would be a nice enticement to the consumer for your advertisement? Just a suggestion….

  3. I ordered the moss hurricane scarf and absolutely love it. I also have the olive road trip scarf. The quality and design is amazing. Annie and Ivana are so talented and so much fun to watch on Instagram.

  4. Wow. I like the second in the video tying method but I never like the way it turns out. So I just learned I’m putting the second side through the wrong opening.!!!!!! Thank you so much! Made my day!

  5. Nice scarves.
I just saw a Millenial blogger I follow in a post, and she’s got a scarf of her Mother’s from the 1980s on. It looks great. I think that nice silk scarves are a safe a “timeless” bet as you can make on a clothing item.

  6. I understand Cher. I’m a “put the second side through the wrong opening person” myself. LOL

I do think the French box is so much fun! The colors in your scarf are beautiful. Now about that pretty brown sweater. Where did you buy it? I apologize if you have already put a link somewhere. It’s hard to find just the right Browns.

  7. Hi Susan – I received my first French Box and was so excited to open it! Everything was lovely and will be put to good use except for the lipstick from Rouge Francais which was as hard as a rock and pretty much useless. While I did let them know about it, they did promise to send me another so here’s hoping they don’t forget. That aside, I look forward to receiving my next 3 boxes.

  8. I love a beautiful silk scarf. The feel, the colors, and generous size allow me to try different ways to wear it. I’ve recently ordered some from Echo which are more moderately priced and a UK store Aspinal of London which now has a few scarves on sale. I think a beautiful scarf is the “cherry on top” of whatever you’re wearing.
