Fortunately, Chez Femme is miles away from any of the fires burning right now. (We live in what I call the “urbburbs,” single and multi-family residential area in the middle of more urban areas.)
But the air is still very smoky, and it looks like we’re still a day or two out from much relief weather-wise. Hopefully by Friday we’ll be back in an onshore flow pattern, which will bring cooler, moister air our way.
Please hold a good thought for those whose homes are in danger, and especially for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.

glad to hear you’re safe for now, at least, but what a fearful time for many of your fellow Californians. I’ll be thinking of you as I follow news of the fire and hoping for cooler weather and perhaps even rain.
Unfortunately, looks like there’s precious little of either headed our way in the near future. Right now the weather forecast is only calling for a 5-7 degree cooldown over the next few days. But maybe that will change.
