Away We Go…

We’re off to the airport in just a bit. But as requested, here’s a shot of the suitcase (20″ carry-on) all packed up, AND with room to spare! And that’s even after I agreed to take two pairs of children’s shoes for a friend’s nieces who live near Aix.

I used one packing cube for my tops and two of the sweaters, rest was rolled and packed loose. Underwear and hosiery are in those zippered pouches in the lid.

One of the wild and crazy kid shoes in the middle there.  They light up too.

I’m reconsidering outerwear though, based on the current and extended forecasts for both Paris and Aix: cool and WET.  I may grab my trusty leather jacket instead of the lightweight raincoat as we head out the door, as it’s warmer et plus impermeable.

Next post will be from PARIS!!!

  1. One of my students will be in Paris next week. Maybe you will pass by one another!! Kind of cool! Have a marvelous, safe time!!

  2. Bon voyage, say hello to Provence for me 🙂 The impressionists were absolutely right: the light there is special.

  3. Bon Voyage, Pseu! Will be waiting for trip posts so we can enjoy your trip along with you. Be safe and sleep well!

  4. Have a wonderful time! My bag is packed now too as we leave midweek for Europe. But no photos as our bags are less elegantly packed large Samsonites – we’re away for over two months. In addition, tonight my husband brought out a heap of hard cover books by French, Italian and Hungarian Nobel prize winers and asked which ones we should take! Sigh! We always read serious literature of the countries we’re in while away, especially the man of the house. Can’t bear to see the disappointment if I say it will make the bags too heavy! I’ll be taking paperbacks by Colette and Marguerite Duras. We post them home by Colisimo (French Post Office) along with clothes we won’t need when the weather warms up. How many other women have husbands who insist on taking their literature and paint sets (he does do amazing water colours!) when they go to Europe? No wonder we travel heavy!

  5. I know you will have a fabulous time! Thank you so much for the photo of your carry-on. You have that down to a science which I will study from the photo. Have a safe journey. I look forward to any photos you wish to share.
