in season: the lightweight jacket
A lightweight jacket is an indispensable wardrobe item during warm seasons, but the right one can be hard to find. I’ve had a checklist that includes: not black, not a suit jacket, interesting details, softly structured shape. This “Street Style Jacket” from Stella Carakasi hits all of those marks, with the added bonus of being machine washable! Made from hemp and tencel, this unlined jacket is breathable and has nice movement and drape. I decided to play up the asymmetrical design elements on the jacket with a longer asymmetrical hem tunic. Jacket provided by Stella Carakasi; I’m wearing the XS. I chose the “Almond” color, but it’s also available in Platinum (a light, soft grey) and Pacific (a soft navy).
Launched in 2012, Stella Carakasi strives to create flattering and affordable women’s designer wear, incorporating more sustainable natural fabrics. The company is headquartered in Berkeley, California, and there’s definitely an easy California attitude to these designs.
The vintage medallion necklaces are from French Kande, here (c/o) and here. Other items shown:
tunic (similar style) | jeans (similar) | bracelet (similar) | bag | shoes
If you prefer a longer jacket, check out the “Northpoint” and “Fair Game” jackets, both of which also feature asymmetrical details.
Do you have a favorite lightweight jacket? What wardrobe items are your warm weather “indispensables?”

Love the jacket and how you styled it with this top! Looks great…
Pam, thank you!
That jacket looks great on you and love the way you styled the entire outfit! I’m curious to know what you thought about the kimono style linen jacket from Eileen Fisher you mentioned having on order in a recent post … haven’t seen a followup post on it yet.
Hi Carol, I’ll be showing that one soon. 🙂
Great … looking forward to seeing it!
Love your styling here too! You are rocking this jacket!
Yarra, thank you very much!!
I looked for a long while for a light weight jacket– found one that I love! It was not expensive. It’s a denim, moto-style, shorter piece that works over sleeveless (i’m a little conscious of my upper arms) for dresses, maxi dresses (super cute), or jeans and a tee.
kande, I love a good moto style jacket. They seem to go with everything.
This jacket is perfect of SoCal weather, I love it paired with the asymmetrical top.

Hope to see you for TBT Fashion link up.
Alice, thanks so much!
Great jacket! Like a Perfecto, almost, but in fabric instead of leather. With that color, it’s a good thing it’s washable.
The asymmetrical top is long enough that it looks balanced and calculated.
francetaste, thank you!
Boy, you have been so on target with your ensembles! Love this jacket, and all the elements. Your medallions–the wearing of two disparate but complementary ones is so casually stylish.
Also great bag, bangle and what I can see of the watch. Would you ever consider doing a post on your watch collection, if you haven’t already done so? I love watches of all kinds, and like the way you put yours and your other jewelry together with your outfits
nell, thank you very much! I’ll work on a post about watches soon.
I adore a lightweight jacket like this one, and your whole look is so city-chic. xox

Thanks so much Annette!
I love the loose but chic-ish (?) structure of the not-quite-white jacket, especially worn with the sloped hem of the tunic. Such a visually interesting combo, played up even more with the simple colours. And the brown bag really ties in with the almond. Oh yes. Looking good.
Susan, I love the different layers and angles of this outfit. I have chosen this as one of my featured looks from the My Refined Style Linkup. I will be featuring you in my Monday fashion post.
