Another reason why…
…it pays to buy good shoes. Bought these Ecco’s over a year ago, and just had them “refurbished” by my local shoe repair guy for $30. They look better than new and now I’ll get another year or two’s wear (or maybe more!) out of a favorite pair. Good shoe repair people are worth their weight in gold, IMHO.

I have a Fairy Godcobbler that I’ve been relying on, but he recently committed a nearly-unpardonable sin against a friend’s shoes and it has really shaken my world up. Now I’m very very nervous…
I always feel so clever and frugal when I pick up shoes from the cobbler’s, all spiffed up with new soles and/or heels.
I have just found a new cobbler, and I’m thrilled with his work.
I also have a pair of shoes that look a lot like those. 🙂
Those are cute Ecco’s. They look like something Amelie would wear now that she is happily in love. I bet they are super comfortable. Lucky you.
And, Stylespy I was going to ask you for the number of your shoe guy. Now I am having second thoughts.
But the first thing is to only buy shoes that you can actually GET fixed.
Hi – Where/who is your shoe guy? I am in Culver City CA myself and I have had no luck in this area at all (some fave boots died a horrible death…sigh) Please share…??
Many many thanks in advance 🙂
stylespy – hope your friend was compensated!
materfamilias – yes, isn’t that a great feeling?
phantomminuet – good news! Sometimes it’s just trial and error until you find the right person.
LBR – Thanks! yes, they have a very French personality, don’t they?
toby – yes, exactly!
hollarback – it’s the guy at Raintree Cleaners over at Jefferson and Overland. I’ve taken maybe 6-8 pair in for various work over the last year and have been satisfied so far. Good luck! Whatever you do, steer clear of the people at Westside Pavillion. I had a brand new pair of beige suede pumps come back with new heels…and black smudges all along the side! >:(
I’ve got a pair of Ecco shoes that I love and I was thinking of going back for a second pair. Sadly, I have never, ever worn a pair of shoes so much that they needed to be ‘cobbled’.
Thank you! I am at that market often and never noticed the shoe place.
Merci 🙂
Where have the Eccos been all my life!! these are great! I love my Audrey’s as you know!
There is a fried chicken place in Culver City I want to go to; We need to get the so cals together for a meet up!!!
