Pick of the week: a cute & affordable top

Susan B. wears a Caslon yellow stripe split neck tee.

I’m always on the lookout for lightweight tops with sleeves, and this is one of the best times of year to shop for them. Striped tees and tops with a v-neck aren’t always easy to find, so I wanted to share this one with you.

The cotton blend fabric is soft but not flimsy, and it’s available in several colors, sizes XX-Small to XX-Large. (Plus HERE.) The fit is slim, not snug (I’m wearing a Small here) and the full-length sleeves are set-in for a neat look. The top is a little too long for me, so I turned the bottom under about 2″ in the photo above.

  1. Off to Nordstroms today to return something. I will definitely look for this t-shirt! Comes in some really pretty colors. Thanks, Susan!

    1. Susan, you are definitely thinner than me!!! I just got back from Nordstroms….tried this t-shirt. The large (12-14) is true to size, but a bit snug over my menopot/covid-belly. Bought it anyway….it will force me to lose that 7 pounds. And yes, I should have purchased it through your site, so you’d get the commission…mea culpa…but I will buy it in another color through your link. Got the olive green..looks good with my gray hair. The pink is a bit peachy; the blue is very vibrant…will look great in a sunny clime. Didn’t try the yellow..only has smalls and mediums in stock. The northeast girl in me still likes drabber colors…
I did try the XL…it fit a bit better, but was too big in the arms, and through the body. As info, I’m 5’9”, 38D, and 180lbs ( said I had to lose weight!!!)

  2. I’m happy to see full length sleeves. I can always push the sleeve up if I want to, but a 3/4 sleeve doesn’t allow for times when my forearms are cold. Anymore, I pass up 3/4 sleeves, and only buy full-length.

  3. I am short and big busted; would you advise wearing this top as the strips are horizontal rather than vertical?

    1. I’m also short and big-busted, and I wear lots of horizontal stripes. I think the v-neck on this top adds a nice vertical line as well.

    1. The sleeves would be full-length on someone with longer arms than mine. I’m probably not keeping it, but only because I have a bazillion striped tops already. 😉

  4. This striped top is perfect on you. You are doing so well with your purchases after you have done your colour test.
The colour of this top is very good for you, but I also admire the fit and the neckline. So flattering. I would buy it in my size too, if it didn’t have to come all the way from the USA.

    1. On second thoughts, the neck is too low for me. It will show my wrinkles. Gosh it looks so much better on you than on the Nordstrom model.
By the way, it is really cheap.

  5. I am really enjoying the clothing line Lilla P. While not as inexpensive as this top, the brand is not as expensive as Eileen Fisher and I am finding things that work well for me. They have both long sleeves and three quarter sleeves. I think it is my new go to brand.
