Not yer grandpa’s loafers… |
A few weeks back, Karen posted about the current loafer trend, a look that can easily “fast forward to frump.” Her advice was to look for a modern tweak on the classic. She showed us some great options, and I’ve just found another one.
Available in four colors, the patent leather and sleek styling of these Biella loafers from J.Crew steers well clear of Frumpy Town. They’re a fun and comfortable alternative for those who don’t wear or need a break from heels. This color, “Getaway Green” (teal, actually) can bring some color interest to a neutral ensemble, yet is neutral enough to play nicely with other hues. The patent leather is much softer than it looks and the leather lined foot bed is comfortable even sans hosiery.
(Think they might run just a bit big, and do seem to stretch with wearing, so if you’re on the fence size-wise, might want to order a half size down.)

I’ve always been a huge loafer fan. Albeit in, you know, black:).
I love loafers frump factor or not…I think the teal are an instant boost and would add a bounce in one’s step.
I’d love a red pair!
? for everyone. What kind of hosiery do you where with the loafer. Nothing seems to look correct to me these days. What is current?
By the way – I just love this blog!
Very yummy. I find myself drawn to the orange – a nice burst of foot-color for fall/winter.
Mmm, yummy!
I like the look of these, they remind me much of my own polished leather Tod´s.
The color woud look odd over here, but I believe, that in your part of the world they are very much ok.
They really are not your grandpa’s loafers – like you i love the colour – fabulous xx

Love them, the style and the color.
I see these as sophisticated colour, not like, say, red maryjanes (which have their charm, too, but not on my size 10 feet.) I’d wear them with tights, given the temps. Of course brown, but also cranberry, camel or burnt orange. Just saw a woman in raspberry tights and teal shoes w/ her jean skirt. I’d keep the skirt or pant quiet, though.
Great shoe, Pseu!
Those are pretty. I wonder why Mette thinks the color wouldn’t work in Finland?
Susan T, serious people over here. Bright colors only on summertime, for children and those, who wish to ” pop up ” from the crowd; )
Second, the nature over here has less colors.
I totally want the poppy coloured ones …
Those are cute.
I’ll have to be on the lookout for somebody to knock them off in my price range!
Those are quite feminine for a loafer. I’d have a hard time wearing colors other than neutrals on my size 11 feet. Bought some cute patent leather red sling backs last spring and wore them exactly one time. I’d like them in black or navy though…will check for other colors.
My grandpa would surely love this loafers. He always wanted to have this one!
