Re-entry
We flew back home yesterday, a short but periodically bumpy trip over mountains and through patches of unsettled weather. Fortunately for le monsieur, who does not like to fly, the pilot warned us that we’d have some turbulence so he was prepared. When ma soeur and I were little, and flying meant dressing up in our Sunday best dresses with the stiff petticoats, white gloves and patent leather Mary Janes, we loved turbulence and were especially thrilled when the plane would hit an air pocket and suddenly drop. We’d giggle and clap our hands. Our mother was not amused and would light up another cigarette to calm her nerves.
Today it’s back to the workaday world. While I’m catching up, go check out this unbelievably gorgeous pair of earrings that Wendy B has designed. (No, these aren’t the superfabulous thing I’m saving up for, though when I win the lottery I’ll add these to my shopping list. )

LOL! If I flew in the seat next to you, Mr Pseu and I would ratchet each other into massive panic. le Duc gave me a ticket to NYC for my birthday (July) and I have not been able to get myself into the mental condition to use it!
I love that Wendy chose peridot for you, for your red hair!
Ooh I’m with monsieur, je n’aime pas le bumpy flight!
Oh, Miss J will NEVER again get on a plane to OR from Vegas. She hates to fly anyway and that turbulence is too much to bear.
Miss Pseu’s namesake earrings are to DIE for!!!
And the little velvet coats have now been replaced by, XANAX baby!….those earrings are TDF BTW.:)
It’s “that jacket” isn’t it??
The earrings are beautiful by the way….
metscan – I’m afraid my life isn’t nearly glamorous enough for those earrings…
Duchesse – I usually try to coax him into having a beer before he boards the plane, which takes the edge off a bit, then he pops a diazepam right after we board. Even so, he’s still white-knuckler.
That’s Not My Age – I don’t like ongoing, serious turbulence, but the little stuff I’m OK with.
Good Life in Virginia – I’m afraid those earrings are a bit “above my station” as we used to say in Ren Faire. But they are lovely, aren’t they? We don’t have another Paris trip planned right now, and are accumulating miles for possibly another destination next year.
Miss Janey – the only think worse than flying is getting stuck on the Cajon Pass in bad weather or traffic accidents…
LPC – Better Living Through Chemistry!
Semi-Expat – actually no, though it is something to wear. Maybe I should give some clues and have a contest?
I think that You should be the one to have these earrings. After all, they carry your name!
Welcome home, glad you made it back to land. The earrings are great, and I think you are very glamourous!
those earrings are fab…and perhaps you should endulge:)
are you planning another paris trip by chance?
Those earrings are truly beautiful…and you my dear, I admire even more now that I know about your generous donations to NieNie’s fund.
As to the turbulence, I’d need a cocktail or be deep into meditation to get through that…I am a white nuckle flier as well as Mr. Pseu….it goes back to a scare on the runway in Toronto when the wing was clipped by another plane and we were sent flying doen the aisles.
Thanks for inspiring the earrings. I really would never have done them if not for you! The jewelry buyer at Barneys admired them today.
I’m glad you got back safe and sound. I would have been gripping the arm rest and leaving creases in it.
Just wanted to say what a wonderful thing you did at WendyB auction. That was before I started blogging. And you deserved that tribute. What a gorgeous tribute at that too!
