Weekend WIWarrior, Las Vegas
We’re off in a bit to meet a friend for brunch, but as I’m often asked to share outfit posts of my travel wardrobes, here are the two looks I’ve been wearing for pretty much the entire trip, with slight variations in shoes and jewelry. The Bellagio had just finished the current Conservatory display, Cherry Blossom Time, which provides nice backdrops. These were shot with my iPhone in between throngs of other tourists, so please forgive the photo quality.
(Just a note: walked miles yesterday in those sandals in the top photo, and they are SO comfortable!!)

I recently bought a pair of Munro “Lacey” sandals that look very similar in design to the comfortable ones in your first photo (Munro does not have a platform sole, though). Not only do I love the way they look, but they are absolutely the most comfortable sandals I’ve ever had for walking. I am envious of your ability to wear all kinds of beautiful shoes. With my long, very narrow feet, my choices are seriously limited even at the higher price ranges….

Pam I wear mostly exclusively Munro shoes and have since I discovered them 15 years ago at Nordstroms. Most comfortable shoes ever and they have some really cute (fashionable) ones out now. Great outfits for Las Vegas ,BTW.
So what do YOU end up wearing over and over??? I have three weeks of river cruising in the Netherlands this May, and I would really like to pack my suitcase with things I’ll actually wear. So far I’m thinking black tunic, black leggings, a slicker and good walking shoes… and one black sheath dress for dinner. Is that what ends up being your uniform?
Is your slicker breathable? Otherwise, if walking, you will get clammy and that’s a miserable feeling. (I’ve done it.) A breathable (cotton, silk or high tech breathable fabric like Gore-Tex) is essential. Or you can wear a good-weight cotton coat and carry a full-size umbrella.
Margaret, I’d second what Duchesse said about the slicker being breathable. I’ve found that a lightweight shell over warmer layers works better than a heavier coat or jacket. I find that a mostly black wardrobe works well, and then I add color with scarves and maybe another top or two. My own “uniform” tends to differ based on destination and climate. In addition to the items you’ve mentioned, I’ll usually include a pair of jeans for daytime, and a lightweight soft jacket. Usually a skirt instead of a dress for me.
Yes, pseu, you look lovely (clothes and style). Margaret, those are wise choices. There is not a single month in the Netherlands where you can’t get heavy, solid rain. I’d take a skirt rather than a dress, but that is up to you. Is the slicker one you can also wear river cruising?
Susan you look lovely in both those outfits, they give a relaxed yet smart vibe.
Both outfits are great for walking and looking chic. I always visit the Bellagio whenever I visit Las Vegas, the conservatory is such a magnificent place.

Love both outfits! And comfortable shoes are a must. As for wearing the same clothes, oh yes. Just back from a week in Tbilisi, Georgia with my sister and I wore the same black sweater everyday over a couple of other shirts, as it was colder than I expected. Needless to say, that sweater is not coming out of the closet this week! Enjoy your trip!

You look so happy and relaxed! B/c my travel is nearly always to large cities, I wear black and, like others, vary with scarves. I will take flat shoes (brogues and slip on, current ones are Ecco and Timberland ) with good arch support, and a pair of dressier flats for evening.

I’m glad people are joining in about the slicker, as pseu has also been hinting about a trip to the Netherlands, where I have been for extended periods in all seasons. While the general weather is not terribly different from that in Paris, nor are are the fashions people wear, you can get a lot more steady rain – it rains in Paris too, but rarely for days on end without a spot of sun. Of course you can be lucky and have sun for your entire trip – even in the wintertime.
Ah, the shoes from your newer post (I’m in wonky commenting order). They look even better on your feet. Great casual wear that goes from hot to cool, oh so important. Packing light for travel I think is essential, unless you can ship your trunks in advance. Ah, if only that were a problem I had to worry about. Heh.
