“le jacket moto” goes to work
As promised, here’s one version of a workday outfit utilizing the Eileen Fisher long moto jacket. For me this would be for days with Important Meetings on the schedule, otherwise I’d probably style with pair of dark wash jeans or twill pants and tee. I tried this first with heels, but it felt too close to Corporate Drag for my work environment; the boots brought it back into comfortable Business Casual territory. I’ll be honest, this look feels a bit too dark and heavy to me overall, and I’d love to lighten it up with perhaps a grey skirt, top and tights. Or a print or laser-cut skirt. Stay tuned. 🙂
Do you have a defined dress code where you work, or are you given free rein?
I’m wearing one of my favorite long necklaces here. Do go check out How I Wear My: Long Necklace at Everything Just So and The Rich Life On A Budget. I always look forward to Jill and Adrienne’s monthly How I Wear My posts!
I’d like to thank Sylvia of 40+ Style for including me in her list of “40 Most Stylish Midlife Women On Instagram.” I was thrilled to be part of this group! You can follow me on Instagram here.

You absolutely rock in this…glam, chic and simply gorgeous!
Thanks so much, Pat!
That’s terrific; a suit that’s not a suit. I like the fabric of the laser-cut skirt but find a skirt that short on a woman of “a certain age” is not chic- at least not at work.
Duchesse, thank you. I agree that too-short is risky, but at my height that laser-cut skirt would probably hit right above the knee.
Congratulations! No wonder you’re one of the 40 most stylish, as demo-d here.
Thanks so much, Frances!
Thank you so much for joining us for “How I Wear My: Long Necklace.” I liked the way you styled both of your necklaces. And thank you SO much for the mention and link. We really do appreciate it! Sidenote: Every time I see your Saint Laurent bag I want one. It is just so good. XO, Jill
Jill, it was my pleasure, and thank you.
Congrats! You deserve to be at the top of the list as you are one of the ground breakers and as this post illustrates chic, elegant and cool.

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.
Hi Alice, thanks and am on my way over. 🙂
Corporate Drag is never a good look! You however look fabulous in this. I like your hair getting longer in front!
Jennifer, thanks!
I spend most of my day sitting down at work.
I’d rather wear a skirt like the pleated laser-cut than a longer straight skirt because the straight skirt will be tight and wiggle it’s way up as the day goes by.
A fuller skirt can be shorter because when I sit it fans out and is less likely to find me tugging the skirt back down again.
As they say, the legs are the last thing to go!
Ginger, I agree that a fuller skirt is often easier to wear when one has a desk job. This knit pencil skirt does seem to stay put, though, unlike others I’ve tried.
Love this whole outfit! You look so chic and edgy.

Alena, thanks so much!
I love how you threw on that long necklace, a bold feminine/elegant, with the moto jacket, and I love how your top is a bit longer than the jacket. Cool outfit! I want to take photos as fabulous as yours…
Melanie, thank you! I think your photos are WAY cooler though…
I ordered this jacket online Wednesday night and it was delivered today. Thank you Nordstrom for free shipping!
The jacket is a keeper. I foresee this being a staple in my wardrobe. It adds a little edge to my classic-leaning wardrobe.
The length is flattering and collar looks good popped up or flat. The zippered pockets are deep and very good for travel.
It is great to see these clothes modeled on real women vs. online models. Thank you, une femme!
Stella A, you’re very welcome and I’m so glad you like the jacket!
That’s a great jacket – so easy to wear.
TNMA, thanks!
You absolutely own this moto jacket look – great with the skirt and necklace!
silkpathdiary, thank you.
Great modern work appropriate look. I always love boots and tights with a skirt!

Patti, thanks for hosting!
This is far from cooperate drag (at least in my book). I find this ensemble to be very stylish, classy, and yet hip way of styling. I will stayed tuned to see the many ways you come up with styling this jacket.
trinagrandinetti, thank you very much. I’ve been wearing it multiple times per week, so will show more outfits with it soon.
I really love the look, the stylish moto jacket and its longer length, paired with the black boots. Very chic!

Jess, thanks so much! Am on my way over…
Yes, please. I’ll take that jacket in a Glenda size 🙂
Thanks, Glenda!
That is a seriously perfect jacket! Your whole outfit is so great! Love love your sunglasses too! Peace! Cheryl
Hi Cheryl, thanks so much!
Oooh. Pretty! I’m seriously inspired by the styling. I have yet to make a flat boot work for me. ( Now is a great time to look for them, I know!) I love the narrative of pearls and tough ideasd. You rock the boardroom, I know!
I have been so inspired by all of your packing and styling suggestions this entire last year. I have a packing challenge going on right now. Half my closet is laid out in a spare room with too many options laid out as usual for me. I am packing for a trip to Palm Springs next week and then on for a few more days in Pasadena. Should I bring short boots? Would you pack white pants? Shorts in February, or not? Would love to see you do a packing for Palm Springs (or Florida) in a carry-on suitcase post. Thank you!
