I Married One Of The Good Ones…

While on vacation last May, I must have remarked to le monsieur how much I liked the lighted magnifying mirror in one of our hotel bathrooms. And he must have remembered. A couple of weeks ago, entirely unbidden, he came home from a trip to Costco with one similar to the above.

Oh my goodness, how did I ever get by without one of these?  Especially being as near-sighted as I am, the magnifying side makes applying eye makeup (what little I wear) a precision job. My eyebrows are now actually even when I leave the house in the morning. I’d recommend my husband, but he’s already taken. 😉 So I’m recommending one of these mirrors.

  1. Such a thoughtful husband you have! I too have admired these at hotels, for tweezing and etcetera. As soon as we move into our place that has a bathroom counter, I shall have one too. For now, I tell myself that no one else has good vision either : 0

  2. I’ve been thinking about getting one so I’m glad to see that others find them helpful. Pseu, perhaps you could mention that I would like one to le monsieur and he could surprise me with one from Costco, too!

  3. Can you hear me sigh? Long story short. I am as blind as a bat, have been since age 8. Have had a few lighted mirrors over the years, could not live without it, really. So when the last one finally bit the dust I went to Costco, got the exact mirror. I was thrilled. After about two weeks, no light. I kept pressing the little button, checked the cord. Nothing, nada, kaput. We were in the middle of a family crisis so instead of returning it, I lopped off the electrical cord with nice sharp scissors and used it as a regular mirror. Compromise. Then, about two weeks later when flipping to the magnified side by flipping the darn thing over there was a bit of a crash. The light bulb fell out. Then MY light bulb came on, I just needed to make sure the bulb was seated more securely in its little socket. Finale, I still have mirror, light bulb is languishing in the bottom of its housing and the cord…well that cord is long gone. Moral of this story, check the bulb!!!!

  4. Perhaps ( ? ) I too posted about a very similar mirror with a light.
I agree, I am already addicted to it. I can see each pore and wrinkle enlarged ; )!!

  5. I had one scrounged from a thrift store. I loved it. It broke. I’ve been struggling ever since. Now I KNOW I need one again. And my pores, my ‘stache and my eyebrows thank you. And your husband.

  6. Could not do without mine. I had it wired onto the wall. Can’t see a thing without my contacts. It magnifies 10x and alerted me to the malignant spot on my nose before it got too big.

  7. You did marry one of the good ones…and so did I!! Now, you have me desiring one of the mirrors and there is a Costco close by!! I have struggled a little with my eyes lately…must get in to get them checked!

  8. I have a wall mounted one, but not lighted. Couldn’t live without it either. Such a thoughtful husband! I have a small, compact travel one also, in case wherever we’re staying doesn’t have one.

  9. You did indeed get one of the good ones! Please give Monsieur Pseu my best. And I really need to get one of those mirrors…

  10. Well done Monsieur! I must admit to owning 4. They were purchased with increasing strengths as my eyesight did the reverse. I finally put two on my guest room dressing table for my sight challenged guests.

  11. How thoughtful! I don’t have a lit mirror but I have one without a light that’s attached to the wall of my bathroom. It was put up to be perfect for my height in bare feet, so I have to remember to put on my lipstick before I put on my shoes!

  12. I too bought a magnified mirror after a stay in a fancy pants hotel. I had not known what I had been missing. I don’t wear makeup, but it really helps with eyebrow trimming, those pesky nose hairs (that started growing in like tree trunks in my mid 40’s), and my lovely “Cantiflas” style mustache and soul patch. So, tell Monsieur “Good on ya mate”!

  13. How have you people lived this long without a lighted magnifying mirror!?!?!? I’ve had one since college (I’m 55 now). My roommates bought me the first one, in college, so I could sit at my desk to put on makeup without hogging the bathroom mirror. Since I am blind as the proverbial bat, I need it to put on makeup, pluck, etc., before I put my contacts in. Could not get along without it!

  14. I think gifts like this one are the best. I like ones that I get when I least expect it much more than the obligatory birthday, anniversary ones.
My favorite gift is when my husband gets the coffee ready for me to turn on in the morning.
I have some magnifying mirrors, but not a lighted one. That sounds great.

  15. I cannot live without mine. My last one bit the dust and I thought I could wait and order one online. After a few days of online shopping for the perfect mirror I couldn’t take it anymore and went to bed bath and beyond and got this exact mirror a couple of weeks ago. I love it. It has more magnification than my last one and the light is much better.

  16. What a lambchop! A lighted magnifying mirror is indispensable (and becoming more so each year, ahem). Am kind of lost when I check in somewhere and they don’t have them.
