Sifting Through The Sales: Let’s Get Comfortable Edition
Whether you call it Social Distancing, Self-Quarantine, or just “Staying the F at Home,” it looks as if we have a few more weeks of it ahead. So we might as well settle in and make ourselves comfortable.
Clothes you can wear at home now, and out later…
Vince is a brand whose relaxed styles have a versatile wear-at-home/wear-out appeal. They currently have a % off purchase promotion going (the more you spend, the bigger the % off) and it includes new arrivals. Code SAVEATHOME. This cotton rib tunic is what I call “elevated casual”…wear now over yoga pants for your morning video conference, and in a few weeks with a pair of white jeans.
Edited to add: and it’s 40% off at Nordstrom in the Glacier Blue color.
J.Jill has 40% off select styles. I thought this linen blend sweater was such a pretty color! Offered in Misses, Petites, Plus and Tall sizes.
The Elevated Tee. This 100% cotton top is offered in three colors, and is 40% off.
With the weather beginning to warm up, I’ve begun searching for a lightweight cardigan or two that I can throw on over my lighter tops at home. I like the shape of this one, though for myself I’d probably opt for the navy.
It doesn’t get much easier than this relaxed throw-on-and-go cotton blend cardigan. Offered in 5 colors, sizes XX-Small to 3X.
Tired of your sweatpants, but still want a little more ease than your jeans can offer? These knit pants have a piped side seam, which makes them street-ready. In Misses, Petite, Plus and Plus Petite sizes. They’re 30% off (plus an extra 20% off) with code CLASSIC.
Athleta currently has 30% off everything, including the popular Brooklyn pants. If the weather’s already warming up where you live, here’s a pair of fun linen joggers, offered in Misses, Petite, and Tall sizes.
For the home…
If you’ve been missing those fancy coffees, why not become your own Barista? This is the machine I have and continue to be very pleased with. It’s currently 30% off.
But if you need to keep it simple, or space is an issue, a Nespresso machine is the way to go. The milk frother is a breeze to use, and the capsules are recyclable.
Tea drinker? I love the retro look of this electric kettle with temperature control. This blue is fun and unusual, and there are other colors too. Currently 25% off.
I keep one of these scented candles on my nightstand, and find the fragrance very soothing and calming. (And don’t we all need a little of that these days?) It’s one of the items included in a “self care” promotion at Neiman Marcus. Get $50 off a beauty purchase of $200, and $100 off $400 with code SELFCARE. (Think I might order a bottle or two of their hand & body lotion…with all of the hand washing I’m really going through my lotion!)
And speaking of fragrance, our dog is starting to smell like a dog again. 😆🐶 With the groomer closed for the duration, I’m going to have to take matters into my own hands. I’ve ordered some of this shampoo to try, will report back.
More wear-at-home styles on sale…

Chico’s – 40% off purchase with code 29336

Thanks Susan,
You are a bright spot in my day.
I second Lucy A’s comment: thank you for continuing to write! Seeing your blog in my inbox is especially welcome now.
Thanks! I ordered that Igor blue Vince tunic, also on dale at Nordstrom!
Thank you, Susan, for continuing to brighten our days during this trying time. You are, indeed, a ray of sunshine. Thank you! Stay healthy, everyone!
Good morning and I also thank you for continuing to post! A question for you and your readers: has anyone bought anything from Alex Mill? I am eyeing that sweater (and also found a jacket) but am between sizes – wondering if their clothes run smaller or larger than TTS (and if TTS, I won’t know which to get – LOL!). Thank you!
I haven’t tried any of their sweaters yet (this one’s on order), but did try one of their jackets and found it was TTS.
Thank you, Susan. But, ugh, now what shall I order? LOL!
Hello from Australia! I always enjoy your blog, and particularly applaud your bold and successful colour change! Have to say though, when one is in full isolation for 2 weeks and then with all social outings and travel cancelled indefinitely, the need for, and interest in, clothes is very low! So many things in the closet just not getting used.
Susan, you’re so good to us to post during this time. Really — it’s a gift! Thank you.
Because I’m self-quarantined way out in the country, I spend some portion of my days playing dress-up in my closet. Because I can, and it gives me pleasure–both reasons enough. 🙂
I say, let’s keep suiting up, whether we can leave the house or not.
