A bientot!

We’re off! We depart today, scheduled to land in Paris Sunday morning. Happy 50th to mon mari! (Poor man, he gets to spend his birthday doing his very least favorite thing…air travel!)

I’m planning to do some blogging from Paris, internet gods are willing and the laptop doesn’t crash.

If you’re in Paris next week and would like to meet up, please e-mail me.* I’ll be able to check e-mail regularly on the Crackberry, so that’s probably the best way to reach us.

  1. Bon vol, bon séjour et bon anniversaire au mari d’un certain âge. Je le comprends – je déteste l’avion.

Unfortunately there is no métro line between Montréal and Paris yet, so not much choice. Other than the métro, you might enjoy looking at the sleek new tramway, if you are as much of a public transport geek as I am. And there are Vélib bicycles everywhere!

Hope the weather is fine, as there is nothing I enjoy more in Paris than simply walking, though a rain shower can always be a good excuse to nip into a café.

Guess le mari will have to wait until the day after to have a little birthday cake (petit four, pâtisserie, whatever) but there are very nice bakeries in le Marais so it will be worth the wait. Hope the airline food isn’t too too dreadful.

With such light bags, you won’t have to take a taxi into town – the RER commuter train takes you straight to the big Châtelet RER/métro station, which is not far at all from where you are staying.

You can take a taxi upon arrival there if you are tired and jetlagged – it won’t cost much. But without bags, it is a pleasant walk to that métro hub where there are five métro lines including the fully automatic – and beautiful – new line 14 – and 3 RER regional métro/train lines.

  2. Have a wonderful trip, Pseu! I’m looking forward to your vacation posts. And Happy Birthday to your mari!

  3. Happy Birthday to him!!! Enjoy Paris. Blog if you can, but do try and just enjoy. I’ve heard it’s gorgeous this time of year!

  4. YAY! Enjoy, enjoy! And how lucky your significant other is to begin his demicentennial year in the city of light with his beloved! A powerful opening to the second act of his life!

    (Pics, lotsa pics!)

  5. Bon voyage! Hope you have a fabulous trip — and happy birthday to your husband. What a wonderful way to celebrate.

  6. Are you still doing “on the streets of Paris”? I can’t make out weather you live in Paris or the US. I have bought your book FOREVER CHIC and love it. After dipping into similar books offering the French women’s way of life and chic beauty, I like yours the best. Anne xx

    1. Hi Anne, I’m not the author of Forever Chic. That’s Tish, and you can find her blog at afemmeduncertainage.blogspot.com. I live in the US but am actually visiting France right now.

    2. Hello Une Femme – At the risk of misunderstanding you again, re: thinking you are the author of Forever Chic, I would love to meet up with you in Paris. Are you free on Tuesday afternoon of this week ? If so Just let me know via Email and we can make a plan.
      Wait to hear, here’s hoping,
      Anne
