A Little Christmas Cheer, Parisian Style
What happens when Mrs. Claus jets off to Paris for Fashion Week, and hasn’t returned by December? Why a frantic Saint Nick goes in search of his lovely wife of course, and in doing so gives us a Santa’s eye view of Paris. Such is the wonder of The Night Before Christmas in Paris!
Written in rhyme by Betty Lou Phillips (yes, the same author of those amazing interior design books) and Roblyn Herndon, and charmingly illustrated by Sheryl Dickert, this little book is a perfect stocking stuffer for Paris lovers of any age. And when I say “perfect stocking stuffer” I mean that quite literally; the book is sized to slip beautifully into those stockings hung by the chimney with care.
And in the spirit of the season, I’d love to share a copy of this absolutely delightful book with one of you!
Between now and midnight on December 9, please subscribe* to Une femme d’un certain âge if you haven’t already done so (see tool in right sidebar, “Les Amis…”) or follow with Bloglovin’ and leave a comment in this post. If you were Mrs. Claus, where would Santa find you in Paris?
I’ll draw a name at random and post the winner’s name next Thursday, December 13.
Bonne chance!
*If you have previously subscribed/followed, you may enter as well.
Disclosure: copies of the book were provided gratis for review.

In the fabric stalls at Montmartre, bien sur.
Sur l’île de la Cité, évidemment.
Oh La La … I would be seated at LA MAISON ANGELINA! after a lovely walk in the Tuileries Garden. I would be relaxing sipping an African Chocolat chaud and indulging in a Mont Blanc pastry…. Ahhhh Paris how I miss thee!! wishing you a fabulous week..xo C. (HHL)
Standing in Wolff & Descourtis, musing about what to choose.
I’ll be near Mette, admiring the finest scarves – then a cup of chocolat bien sur.
I would be at the Bon Marche, on the Left Bank. Then, I would rest my feet with a cup of tea or a cappuccino at the Hotel Lutetia, across the street… Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
Given that it’s so very busy, and I’ve been stomping my feet off shopping, I’ll be nestled into a corner of the Ladurée on Rue Bonaparte, a few beautifully wrapped parcels cuddled up to my ankles, and a big pot of tea that I’ll stretch out for a good long session of people-watching, making notes in my little black Moleskine, and just sighing contentedly over my good fortune.
So many choices, but since I have already “joined”, some other lucky person will enjoy the prize. I will continue to enjoy your posts.
santa can find me in the 6th.
What fun! I love the illustrations and this is a wonderful gift idea for those of us that can’t get enough of Paris!

Ooooo. This book would be such a treat! Followed! (And I’m on bloglovin’ too – I always forget!)
If I were in Paris? I’d be parked at one of my favorite art brut galleries or museums, or simply camp out for the day at Beaubourg…
I was thinking of Beaubourg only this morning… so many memories of that glorious city.
I am a delighted follower of yours. And Santa would find me on top of the Eiffel Tower!
The book is a-dor-able. And, my chere you know where to find me. xo
I´d wish to be at Hermes, viewing all the equestrian typish stuff!
I’d be at Cafe de Flore, sipping a glass of wine, and watching the crowd.
At the Hermes store of course!
I think I’d be in the Galleries Lafayette although I might be keeping meet company in the Hermes store.
What an adorable little book! I like Mater’s itinerary – Ladurée and people-watching!
I would light a candle in Notre Dame.

Oooh what a great little book.. Mr Claus would find me in the 3rd Arrondissement – probably in Hotel Jules et Jim sitting outside in their courtyard with open air fireplace sipping a vin chaud! Perfect…XXX
As Mme Santa, I would be fresh food deprived at the North Pole and
would be in heaven browsing the open air food markets, stopping for a cafe and to people watch by the hour. Then maybe mosey over to E. Dehillerin to drool over cookware.
I would be in the first hat shop that I could lay my eyes on. Love the little book!
Santa would find me walking along the Seine, ducking into a cafe for hot chocolate from time to time. What a sweet giveaway.
Awh how gorgeous xx
He’d find me shopping at the Bon Marché with mon amie Aimee from L’Oisive-Thé! I’d make sure we checked out the Grand Épicerie–not only for the goodies, but there used to be a really cute butcher who was good at making a lady feel très jolie! Oh, how I miss Paris…
I’d be at my neighborhood bar on Rue Rambuteau arguing politics avec un verre de rouge
I’d be in a cafe, cozied up watching snow drift down.
Mr. Claus would find me walking along the Sienne admiring the city lights and especially the lights of the Eiffel Tower.
Along with Materfamilies, I would be at Lauderee with a few beautifully wrapped parcels nestled at my feet. I’ll bet Mrs. Claus would be fun to shop with!
Karen
I would be shopping with Madame Claus! I am sure she has exquisite taste.
Joyeux Noel

Wandering the galleries of the Jeu de Paume, then people watching from a warm cafe.
Popping into Monoprix before stopping back to my exchanged apartment. Just picking up the essentials with a French twist. Interesting flavors of toothpaste! French lotion! It’s not glamorous, but I do the American equivalent each weekend so I assume I’d also do it on weekends in Paris.
At the top of Montmartre so he can whisk me off in his sleigh
Hermes of course. Love all the horsey stuff.
