A New Look

You may have noticed that une femme has redecorated. I thought it was time to spruce the place up a bit, and get a fresh New Look for Spring. I rather like it! But do let me know if anything is difficult to read, and I’ll adjust if I’m able.

And speaking of A New Look, the ever-theatrical John Galliano has done it again with the Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture collection.  He’s gone and made me fall back in love with Fashion!  My Very Girly Alter-Ego will take one of each, please.

I need someplace to wear this.

Be still, mon coeur.

I need to be in a movie where they find out I’m really a Princess so I can wear this. I’m only half kidding.

The stuff of dreams.

Photos from here.  Go look at the whole slideshow.

  1. The grey text is less readable for me (but may show up better on other monitors.)

Fabulous clothes, always wonder who wears it in real life, and where. Truly magical.

  2. I usually have a hard time reading “special effects” on my clunker, but can read this fine. Isn’t that Pont Alexandre III? Easily the showiest bridge across the Seine but well suited for fashion shoots.

Those clothes – for dreams, for film stars on awards night, for the élite women of Oil Emirates – at home. They are lovely though.

Could you possibly put the circumflex accent (^) on “âge”? An age is part of a plough. I know that would not upset any normal person. 😉

  3. Paula – I’ve adjusted the background, hope this helps!

Anonymous – sorry, don’t speak that language.

Duchesse – I darkened and enlarged the text a bit, hope that helps. Those clothes are indeed magical.

Julianne – hahaha! Yes, I can just see myself walking the dogs in that pink number…

hostess – thanks, “spring” is what I was going for!

California Girl – I have to believe some major actress is going to snap that one up. It’s just divine.

materfamilias – good to hear. I tinkered a bit after the first couple of comments, sounds like I’m on the right track.

  4. Sal – he is, isn’t he? He just keeps coming out with these truly stunning collections. Wearable art.

Lady-in-the-Making – mille mercis! Pont Alexandre III is one of my favorite Paris landmarks.

LPC – thanks! I think it classes up the joint a bit… 😉

lagatta – I can add the accent in the text, but adding to the artwork at top is a bit more compliqué. I’ll see what I can do.
It is a showy bridge, but seems to quintessentially Parisian to me.

Paula – oh good! Thanks for letting me know. It’s funny, someone else mentioned the smell of Chanel makeup, but I can’t smell it at all. To me it has no fragrance. Many of the Lancome lip products smell and taste like soap to me…yuk!

  5. oh, this IS difficult to read. I am glad I found the commenting-section 😉

The scènes de paris are nice to watch.

  6. I often don’t care for runway presentations but these are beautiful. The last dress is Academy Award worthy.

  7. oh, you changed the look! should I delete my first comment? I like the new look now, too!

PS: wearing chanel rouge allure on my lips I suddenly remember the almost forgotten scent of chanel make up. (about 10 years ago I switched to MAC).

  8. MMMM, woman clothes! Not for stick-insect waiflike types! That stuff is so beautiful, and as Duchesse says, magical.

And your sleek new format is the perfect frame for them—very elegant!

  9. Anonymous 5:11 AM was writing in Dutch.

My Dutch is not very good, but I think it means something like “It doesn’t matter!”

Thanks for the ^, though hope the artwork can be restored with it, as the lettering was so very pretty and “feminine”.

  10. Susan Tiner – aren’t those dresses just absolute *confections?* Thanks, and glad you like the decor!

Susan – oh thank you! That’s good to know.

Rubiatonta – thanks and yeah about the lifestyle. Have a feeling it also includes a yacht and some polo ponies…

    Brista – me too!! 🙂

    Ann – oui, vraiment!

    WendyB – yeah!

Katriona – Yes, feminine but not cute, seductive but subtly so. Thanks!

lagatta – thanks! I’m still tweaking around the edges with fonts and such. Unfortunately the available fonts in the photo editing software seem to vary from computer to computer, wasn’t able to find the one I’d used prior.

Tabitha – I know, don’t you feel that it would change you forever just to wear something like that for one night?

  11. Love the new look.

And I adore Galliano and am not afraid that I would love to wear magical clothes like those in my fantasy kingdom. What are dreams for, after all, but fantasy.

  12. Mardel – exactly! Did you see Manolo’s post today, “the Longing for Transcendence” ?

The Style Crone – thank you, and I’m glad you like it. Aren’t those fashions just a delight for the eyes??

Audi – me too. The beauty is almost otherworldly.
