A visit from the Bijoux Fairy…No Fooling!

Behold this bit of magnificence that arrived yesterday!!
It’s my first Wendy Brandes original piece, a redesign of my wedding ring!  Here’s the closeup:
Isn’t this **spectacular??**  I LOVE the edginess of the design and finish of the metals.  The bands are each a bit different and are stacking but connected on the back, like Wendy’s Siobhan ring. I’m really glad I took the plunge and went with mixed metals (white and yellow gold) as Wendy suggested; it’s a much more interesting look.  I can’t stop staring at it!!
Wendy was great to work with through the whole process, “11/10” to borrow a favorite expression from Faux Fuschia. We had some challenges with the original stones as some of the smaller ones were too damaged to be reset, but Wendy searched out some amazing replacements, and didn’t stop until she was satisfied with the quality and look.  I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this turned out, and am so happy to have something so unique and Twisted!
Mille mercis, Wendy!
(My finger was a bit puffy when this pic was taken and has expanded from not having worn a ring for a few months, but should be fine in a day or so.)

  1. Let me know if your finger is happy! If not, we’ll widen the rings! I will dig up the picture I took of your original ring by the time I get back the professional beauty shots of the new one!

  2. Well I’m biased because I love old-cut stones, and I also love bezel-set stones–so you and Wendy pretty much had me at hello.

But yes, what a great design; I love that it has an ornate feel without actually being particularly ornate! [And with your coloring, good call listening to W’s recommendation for including warmer metals.]

  3. How lovely.
And it’s good to share your excitement.

When we moved from south Florida to San Francisco my fingers shrank in the ‘cold’ and I lost my wedding ring. It felt like a curse of doom! The power of rings, eh?

  4. How utterly wonderful ! Can you please hint the FAIRY towards me… I will close my eyes surely and hope for her visit in Germany ;-))

  5. I love it, love it, love it. It’s out of this world gorgeous.

You’ll never be able to accomplish anything for the rest of your life, people will be stopping you in the street, in stores, in your office, everyplace wanting to know all the details — who, what, where, how.

    Bravo to you and Wendy.

  6. Most of all, I like the uniqueness of the ring. No one has a similar one. I like the history behind it. You made a bold, beautiful and brave choice!!!

  7. Okay, I will admit, I thought I was gonna hate it. I tend to go classic. But this? This is gorgeous!

  8. Thanks everyone, for your lovely comments. Wendy really did just an amazing job with this, and the more I look at it, the more I love it!

Arabella – you must have been bereft! My fingers swell and shrink quite a bit depending on the weather and some other factors I’m not entirely certain of.

Miss Peelpants – Wendy took a pic of the old ring before she started, and had some professional shots taken of the new ring. She’s going to send to me and I’ll post the Before and After pics.

    Thanks again, everyone!

  9. it’s fabulous! so fun that i was there when you passed off the ring — such a transformation. as my grandmother always said, “wear it in good health”

  10. Breathtaking and also totally “you”. May you feel delight every time you look at your hand.

Do you have a ‘before’ photo?

And thanks for so spectacularly proving one of my pet ideas: for women to remodel their jewelery, especially ERs, as decades pass. Your taste, the times, your style all change over the decades. Also proves the value of working with an experienced and dedicated designer.

  11. Good gracious, that ring is awesome! I would like to get a really unique eternity/anniversary ring with a similar look. I must show this to “Mr. Odyssey”.

Found your blog via Faux Fuchsia. Glad I wandered over. I like!

  12. Gorgeous! Just gorgeous. Now, I’m partial to bezel-set diamonds anyway, and this combination with the mix of metals is just stunning.

  13. Wow, what an amazing piece of craftsmanship. I love that the rings are slightly different, and the mixed metals look so cool. Gorgeous!

  14. Writing Instinct – it’s five separate bands that are joined on the underside. If you look at the Siobhan ring on Wendy’s site, it’s the same construction.

  15. This is simply stunning. It is so you: Classic with a twist!

Is it one piece or several rings together?
