wearing: autumn colors
The lovely people at Stella Carakasi sent me some fun tops to try, and I chose this one to style first. The Dazzling Details top in Aubergine is a beautiful autumn color, which inspired me to pull out my cognac boots and the hand-woven silk scarf purchased in Vancouver a few years ago to accent the deep eggplant hue of the top. There are diagonal bands of different fabric textures, which also creates some visual interest. It has a flattering scoop neck and asymmetrical hem. I’m wearing an XS here, and the top is available up to XL, so seems to be available in a nice range of sizes. It’s a lightweight piece (rayon/spandex, machine washable) so will layer nicely under a jacket or cardigan. I’m wearing a silk camisole underneath for warmth.
Top: Stella Carakasi, provided for review
Camisole (not visible): Eileen Fisher
Scarf: artisan piece, similar color
Jeans: Eileen Fisher (also available in Plus and Petite)
Bracelets: Aurelie Biderman, Tory Burch
Boots: Cole Haan from last year, similar (and on sale)
The boots, well yes they’re a little wide in the calves. I bought them on sale over a year ago when I was on a mission to get some cognac knee boots. But they’re beautiful boots otherwise, and I’m still mulling over whether to invest in getting the calves taken in by my cobbler. This is such a classic style, and the color works with just about any other combo.

Brilliant color combinations – autumn looks beautiful on you!
Oh isn’t that funny – I was just saying to myself that this is how I would want my boots to fit and probably why I rarely wear the boots I have, when you comment that you might need to have them taken in.
Nice autumnal colours. It has finally turned chilly and autumnal here in London.
Pretty palette and I would definitely have the boots taken in; they are gorgeous and what a pleasure to have them fit perfectly.
This sweater is lovely and very *you*, Une Femme. Don’t you love Fall colors?
These colors are wonderful on you…you should wear them often!! Love the top!
I love these colours on you, very flattering and rich which suits your hair and skin perfectly. You should definitely wear them more! I am loving plum and purple this season as well as bordeaux which has grown on me over the years.
Beautiful earrings! Details ?
Oops, forgot to list those! They’re a few years old from Argento Vivo…here’s a similar style: http://bit.ly/1ttGcVC
Beautiful color for you – you look great. The boots look fine – and I don’t like mine too loose as they chafe when you walk. Not sure if that is a problem for you. Lovely.
Tally ho! Ha! I always enjoy your sense of humor.
Susan: you look fabulous in this top. How does the sizing in this label compare to that of Eileen Fisher?? Many thanks, Helen
Bingo! The colors in that scarf are the most flattering I think I have ever seen on you. To me, it’s not that they are autumnal– it’s that they interact with your coloring in such a flattering way. Looks like a rosy pinkish shade, and the neutral– is that a taupe or a tobacco-y color? And the pinkish lipstick continues that light, ethereal mood. Love your boots and accessories as well!
I love this look ! You look amazing . I relly like the boots – they are gorgeous 🙂 xxxx
The boots are a nice color. Unless they’re so loose that they are uncomfortable I’d leave them and figure I had a pair that could go with pants of a heavier fabric. You can take them with you when you go skiing.
I love these colors on you, Sue, and I would definitely invest in having those boots taken in. After all, the perfect pair of cognac boots aren’t easy to find!

Just gorgeous!! Happy Fall to you!
I love this look! That top is fantastic.
What Plutrell said–great colors you can go to when you want something a little different from the usual palette.
I have been wanting to try one of their tops – the cut adds such a great visual interest. I would say get the calves taken in – these boots are so classic you will be able to wear them for years to come.

Love these colors on you. I also love the new look of the blog. It’s wonderful! XO, Jill
You look beautiful! The palette suits you marvelously, I think. And there are ranges of these hues that work well in any season. I think’s it’s more about weight and texture really.
Great ensemble, I’m gearing up for winter in Europe, and will definitely be taking a cue from your outfit. Love the boots!
Those Autumnal colours look wonderful with your pretty hair and lovely colouring. Love those boots! x
Oh, very pretty! Aren’t you glad browns/warm neutrals/ deep reds and tans are more out and about these days? I’m inspired by your Autumnal prettiness … going to hit the archives and get up to date! Elegant top they sent you, and lovely with your scarf and boots. So much to look at!
Happy Thanksgiving, Pseu!
