Best intentions…

Apologies that posting has has been so light this week.  It turns out that this garden project has been consuming just about all of my mental and emotional energy.  Between making decisions about plants and colors and navigating torn up, sometimes muddy terrain several times daily and trying to find someone to repair the stucco before the new trellis goes up, etc. etc. on top of working full time and keeping up with routine domestic demands, I’m feeling a bit wrung out. Even though this change is good, the sustained excitement and transition phase are wearing on me and my nerves are getting a bit frayed.  As my family could probably tell you. 😉

We have probably another week to 10 days before all of the construction and planting is done.  In the meantime, I’m cutting myself some slack where I can, and so posting will probably continue to be sparse for a few days.  Thanks for your understanding.

  1. I’ve been meaning to tell you that I’m really enjoying the posts regarding your home project. Maybe I like HGTV a little too much, but still . . . I’ve loved watching the transformation. I know it will all end well, and beautifully, and then you’ll be back!

  2. when we are in the middle of a project 24 hrs in a day just does not seem like enough. Take a deep breath and do like I always say,” Enjoy the Process” Kathysue

  3. Oh yes, I totally understand that. Over the three or so months it took to finish our house, I had to oversee it (ie be there every day, choose things, etc) while also working and doing the usual domestic stuff – it’s exhausting, but you will be delighted when it’s done. And you know we’ll all be waiting for you!

  4. I can’t wait to see the end result. Wish I could be in LA to sit with you and Belette and sip some champagne outside. Hang in there, it will be worth it.

We landscaped last year and it was a nightmare. Just picture three dogs, muddy yard, and open door with a beeline to white bedspread.

  5. Maybe you need a pretty pair of Ethel Gloves to lift your spirits as you deal with construction and dirt. I wear mine as work gloves sometimes. Always perk me up when I’m tackling a chore. Your nursery might have them.

P.S. They have an Hermes-inspired pattern brown with orange stitching….

  6. Your blog garden can wait. Take some well deserved time to see the unfolding of your soon to be gorgeous garden. All the chaos is part of creation.

  7. Bon courage, Pseu. Renovations can take a lot out of you, so be good to yourself. The end result will be worth the hassle. And I look forward to virtually sitting in your lovely garden.

  8. I, too, have enjoyed seeing your garden emerge, but you certainly deserve a break from posting in the midst. Mud alone is enough to ruin a perfectly good mood if one is subjected to it too long!
