Bon Weekend!

Quatorze julliet is well underway in France. Tish posted some lovely pictures of the celebrations.

And if you’ve been following Aunt Snow’s travels, she’s now in London! I’ll be reading her dispatches with interest, as we’re planning a trip to Great Britain next year.

If you haven’t checked out Sal’s fabulous new style book yet, go here for ordering information. It’s a really wonderful book that doesn’t dictate a list of “must-have” items or look, but rather guides you toward finding your own style.

Yesterday afternoon I had oral surgery to extract the rest of my cracked molar, and get a bone graft to prepare for an implant. (I’m slowly becoming the Bionic Woman…)  It was a fairly quick process, and painless. I’ve had extractions before and haven’t found them to be traumatic, but the oral surgeon (who was quite a good-looking fellow) insisted that I was at three-martini level with the laughing gas before he’d start working. There was a bit of pain when the novocaine wore off, quickly dispatched by the elephant strength Motrin he prescribed. But now I’m on liquids only for the next 2-3 days, and cool liquids only today. This morning my jaw is a bit swollen and stiff, but not painful.

I’m also not supposed to use a straw or spit for three days. Geez, that’s really going to cramp my style…
😉

How’s your weekend shaping up?

  1. Ah the handsome doctor! Always tamps down some of the agony, IMHO : > Sorry you’ve had to suffer, though, and here’s to hoping you’re feeling 100% very soon.

  2. I had a dental bone graft last year, the doctor was ready to retire. Comforting in the experience category but not so much in the attractive side. There’s something to be said for a handsome young surgeon to make any procedure less traumatizing! Here’s to your speedy recovery.

and yes, don’t you go spitting on the sidewalk!!;)

  3. No spitting?!?! My my, whatever is to be banned next for you? No salty language?
The horror! And no straws? How are you supposed to enjoy your mint julep out on the veranda? Oh well, I am sure you will manage. 😉

  4. Have been a follower and admirer for some time. So sorry to hear about the teeth problem. Have had the implants … still have the implants! Many years now, but remember the process. Swish and swrill and dribble (you CAN still brush your teeth)!

  5. I wish you very well in the jaw world. I still remember my pain from a wisdom tooth extraction. I hope it just gets better from here.

  6. I am impressed that you can be so humourous after oral surgery! Put your feet up and make people wait on you!! It’s OK to pretend that it is more painful than it may be ….just to get the sympathy moms rarely get! Hope it heals beautifully!

  7. Glad that procedure is behind you. It’s just patch, patch, patch! You deserve a nice trip next year! We are going to visit the UK again next year as well. I must visit Highclere Castle and spend some time in Wales. Where are you going? Take care, Femme, and Bon Weekend to you too.

  8. I have been a follower for a while…I love your humor and view of the fashion world. My sympathy on the no straws and no spitting – brings back memories of last year’s wisdom teeth extraction! Feel better soon!

  9. Thank you so much for the referral, and all the more so while you are under the weather. Hope your dental adventure ends well. I’ve never had an implant, although God knows I’ve had my share of dental work. I’ve always wondered why the “no straws” rule.

And for a UK adventure, do check my recent post on Frank’s Cafe in South London – an amazing experience! If they are still in business next summer (it’s a temp installation) do not miss it!
