Casual vendredi…

Une femme can dream… not until next year, though.

But……

At long last, the earrings are mine!  Yes, these are the earrings from BeladoraII that I’ve been sighing over for almost two years now, and have used in countless Polyvores.  On Wednesday they finally adorned my ears. And I was able to have lunch with the lovely Belle de Ville too, so it was really a banner day!

Fabulous, aren’t they?  This pair was one of a kind, but there are plenty more beautiful goodies where these came from

  1. You commented over at Tish’s that her photos today illustrate Cherie’s post (yesterday) on how easily one can smarten up one’s casual dress. Here you give us another sophisticated yet v. accessible example — brilliant! I love the way that olive tones the marinière right into fall — and gives it an edge at the same time.
And, of course, love, love, love the earrings!

  2. I LOVE that jacket! Hate that it’s $705, though, way out of my budget. I’m glad that olive drab has become more trendy, I love it and usually it’s hard to find.

  3. I do love the new earrings, but I have an unrelated question for you – what shoes did you take on your last Paris trip? I am headed to northern England and I fear none of my shoes are rain and cobblestone-friendly enough.

  4. Frugal Scholar – oh, I definitely have NOLA on my “must visit” list. Le monsieur wants to go just for the food.

hostess of the humble bungalow – thanks so much! I really love them.

Duchesse – thank you. Yes, they lift my spirits too!

materfamilias – thanks so much! I really love olive, especially in the fall. It works well with leopard accessories and gold earrings too.

Special – last year I picked up a dark olive trench from Talbots that gets loads of compliments. I’ll bet there will be a lot of great options out there soon.

Anne – thanks! I wore these quite a bit, and found them to be supportive and thick enough in the sole to deal with cobblestones and gravel.

I also wore my Arche boots a bit too.

  5. Congratulations on being the proud owner of the fleur de lis earrings. They are lovely on you and are so in keeping with your overall look. I have really been enjoying your Polyvore’s of late; an intriguing mix of classics with a more modern mix. These looks work on mature women without a touch of either the dreaded matronly or mutton dressed as lamb. Very well done!

  6. I loved the casual Friday look so much, that I pulled my blue and white tee out of the summer box and wore it with jeans, sneakers and a 3/4 khaki trench coat. So far two compliments and its only 2pm.

  7. I’m wearing almost the identical outfit today. Grey & white stripe shirt (j crew), greyish/taupish converse, grey purse from Roots (Canadian retailer). Alas, no YSL bag. Though, I’m carefully considering a “investment” bag purchase and the YSL muse is one of the potentials on my list. Anybody have any advice on purchasing an expensive, investment bag in the over-$1000 (CDN) range. It will be a big deal for me to spend that much on a purse but I’m ready.

  8. Now you have to visit New Orleans. the fleur de lis became a symbol (or even more of a symbol) of identity post-Katrina. And now with the Saints…Your earrings, of course, are more beautiful than the usual of course. And, of course, you should go to Paris first.

  9. Those earrings are gorgeous. I have in a completely solopsistic manner decided that Fleur de lis are symbols of my Fleur de Lily and so I am collecting them even more than I did before I got her. Love those.

  10. Miss Janey – thanks!

laurieann – thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoy the Polyvores. I really have fun putting them together, and they often give me ideas for how to combine items in my own closet.

LPC – well, I guess when you put it that way…. 😉

nononsensebeauty – so glad to hear this worked for you!

Anonymous – my suggestion would be to first figure out how you’ll use the bag, how much you need to carry, and what will fit with your style. Then look at the bags in person, if you can. Ask to put your stuff in the bag and see if it’s comfortable to carry and easy to get in and out of. (I’ve heard that the muse two bag shown in this Poly can be a bit of a pain to close, needs two hands.)

  11. Dianne – thanks so much!

LBR – thank you. “Fleur de Lily”…Love it!!

metscan – thanks! The YSL’s are very simple and classic and lend themselves well to these looks, I think.

    Thyme2be – thank you!

Julianne – thanks so much. I really enjoy doing these and will try to encorporate regularly.

Duchesse – great suggesion on the m0851. They really have some nice pieces.

  12. I adore that coat, but it is pricy. What I like most is the colour (or non-colour) though, and I’m sure I’ll be seeing more of it. So rich!

Beautiful earrings too. Indeed the fleur-de-lys spells identity here in Québec too, and it (and conversely, the maple leaf) are almost too politically charged for many Québécois and Québécoises to wear them decoratively, but of course that doesn’t apply to visitors.
