Foulard de la semaine
Scarf as the Main Attraction. I love how this shows off the colors, yet I’m not comfortable with wearing this way. Halfway through the day I end up re-tying it so that there’s not so much of it.

Maybe try increasing by a half-hour each time? 🙂
I love those colors! I was struck by the image you posted 10/29, with the scarf tied in a similar way, but notice that the bottom part ends above her waist. So maybe just tying it higher at the back would take out some of the excess. Maybe too much flowing with the jacket, the 10/29 picture has a more tailored blazer.
Ohhhhhh. Those colors. They make me crazy.
PS… try wearing it off to the side over one shoulder. You get the effect without so much bulk in the front.
Good colors for you.
I see what you mean — it’s a bit bib-like tied this way. Lovely scarf. Its colours suit you well.
Miss J agrees…It’s beautiful but that’s a lotta scarf to have draping down one’s front. She’d do that same thing!
I do the SAME THING. I want to wear my scarf all big and proud and drapey … but I chicken out.
Beautiful scarf. But, I know what you mean about wearing it that way. I couldn’t do it.
Sal – it’s definitely out of my “neatness” comfort zone!
duchesse – I think I need to gather it up a bit and wear under a more fitted jacket as rita suggested.
LBR – I think it only works in fashion spreads and catalogs!
rita – those are two great suggestions and I’m going to try both next time.
stylespy – I’ll try that one too!
wendyb – thanks! It’s not often I find a scarf where every single color works so well.
sue – yes, I’m afraid it will end up functioning as a bib when I sip my coffee… not good!
Miss Janey – think I’m going to leave this one for the style editors.
Polly-vous – yes, isn’t amazing? When we were in Paris last month I was feverishly foulard-watching and taking mental notes. What really impresses me is how effortless they make it look, that “just threw it on” thing that looks great every time.
I was sitting in a cafe at Ecole Militaire the other day, and each of the Parisiennes walking by (evening rush-hour time) had a scarf tied or draped or flung in her own distinctive style. Like snowflakes, no two were alike!
