Chic is where you find it…

These are the shoes I’m wearing in the coat picture. They’re from Talbot’s. Really.

Talbot’s has been a great source of reasonably priced shoes for une femme, and they offer many of their styles in narrow and wide widths. Look at these yummies:

Rasperry Parfait, $119. (Life is uncertain; eat dessert first, right?)

Chanel-licious! $110. (I adore these but the last thing I need is more black shoes. Someone buy them, please!!!)
The Carnivore, $88.
Candy Apple, $128.

Hot Chocolate, $99.

Talbot’s currently has a promotion going: buy one regularly priced item, get a second for 50% off, AND free shipping on orders over $150.

  1. Well knock me down with a Talbot’s bag, if you didn’t provide the credits I’d not believe it- would like every pair! Always thought Talbot’s shoes were kind of preppy- dull, guess they got new talent! Great post!

  2. Welcome back Duchesse!! I’m looking forward to reading about your travels.

Talbot’s does have its share of preppy stuff, but there are some treasures among the clunkers too.

  3. Oh, I heartily agree — Talbot’s makes teriff shoes. You’re not going to find the most fashion-forward stuff, of course, but if you need a good-looking, well-made, classic-chic basic, they’re totally a go-to source. And very reasonably priced for the quality. And not yet as enamored of themselves as J. Crew.

  4. Benson – I’ll wager that you’re far more chic than Zoe, who always appears to me to be too contrived and self-conscious. 😉

Stylespy – yes, they definitely are getting more of an edge, though they’ve always had some good classic options.

  5. materfamilias – I think there’s another version of the candy apple with a lower heel available too.

Belle – they have some great handbags too! A few months ago they had a marvy black quilted patent clutch that I posted about which sold out within a couple of days, so apparently I wasn’t the only one who loved it.

  6. couture allure – I just hope Talbot’s doesn’t go under. I know they’re struggling right now and offering discounts right and left.

    wendyb – you’d rock em!

  7. hmmm… Talbots is right around the corner from my office, and even though they carry larger sizes, i can *never* find anything to wear… everything looks just too westchester ladies who lunch sort of thing… but now i’m gonna have to go check out the shoes… the chocolate suede are awesome and i love the candy apple, although 4 strong men with a palaquin would have to carry me around if i wore them. might be worth it.

  8. love the quilted chanel-look! Thanks for the tip-BTW- just got my “paris” fur vest 🙂 Wondering if I’ll look like Rachel Zoe?

  9. Looks like Trudy Sullivan is trying to remake the Talbot’s image from the bottom up! These are cute shoes, and I had no idea they did wide sizes. Today’s news says Talbot’s it trying to sell the J.Jill chain that they just bought last year. They can’t make a go of that business.

  10. love several of those shoes pictured…your leopards are “sweet” and those brown booties pictured are fab…
    thanks for the post…

  11. I want, I need (ok, not really), I just really want the Candy Apple shoes! I’ve always thought same as duchesse about their shoes, so thanks for the post (and thanks stylespy for mentioning that they’re well made).

  12. Miss Janey – I know, crazy huh?

bonnie ann – if the shoes actually came with the litter and burly bearers, I’d have ordered them too. 🙂

gail – yes, it’s been my experience that the shoes are well made and really hold up. A good value for these recessionary times!

  13. karen – aren’t they great?? Those would turn any ensemble into a party outfit.

LBR – I look forward to hearing about your excursion.

blume – great choice! Love that jacket.

  14. Bonnie-Ann Black, I don’t recommend going to the Talbot’s store until you’ve checked out all their stuff online, and have an idea what you’re looking for in the store. That way you can navigate through the frump much more easily, I find.

I just got this suit for a job interview, and am planning to wear it with a dark turquoise shirt.

  15. And they ship internationally! Thank you so much for posting about them, I’ve found several pairs I like. Will do the whole wait-and-if-still-want-them-in-two-weeks-then-get-them trick, very excited.
