Your Favorites & Mine On Sale: Just-in-Time-for-Fall Edition
My inbox has been buzzing with sale alerts lately, especially those “Friends & Family” promotions offering a nice percent off new-season pieces. If there’s something you’ve been eyeing, this is a great week to check back and see if it’s been marked down. I’ve rounded up a few reader favorite styles (and some of my own picks) now included in the current sales.
Madewell
Madewell has 30% off sitewide for “Insiders,” (members of their loyalty program, free to join). They don’t often offer these sitewide discounts, so it’s always worth taking a look.
I stopped by our local store yesterday to take a look at the new arrivals, and had to try this denim jacket in leopard print. (There are also jeans in the same leopard fabric, 30% off.) The belt and darted barrel jeans I’m wearing above are also included in the promotion. The jacket runs a little large, so I sized down.
If I decide to keep the jacket, I’ll fix those silver buttons with some gold nail polish. (I’m deciding between this jacket and the Sezane Betty in leopard print. Stay tuned…)
More Madewell picks

Cashmere Cardigan – $138.60 (after discount)
This cashmere cardigan is available in a few colors, but I think this light blue is so pretty! (Good for Summers and Blue Springs.)
Ankle boot – $159.60 (after discount)
This chic ankle boot is available in several colors/finishes, and looks more expensive than it is.

Bouclé jacket – $138.60 (after discount)
I was sorely tempted by this spiffy little jacket, and it would have come home with me if I didn’t already have something similar.
J.Crew:
J.Crew has select fall items on sale, up to 50% off. These “trouser” jeans are included, in several washes, Classic, Petite, and Tall sizes.
The blouse I’m wearing above is from a prior season and no longer available. I’ve linked to a similar silk blouse that’s included in Saks’ “Friends & Family” sale, with 25% off select new arrivals. Also check out this one in no-iron cotton (Icy Green) from Lands’ End, now 40% off with code LEAVES.
J.Crew Sale Picks

Slim-wide Pant in Corduroy – $99.50
These “slim-wide” corduroy pants are an easy-to-style alternative to denim. They’re available in several colors in Classic, Petite, and Tall lengths.
(See how I styled them 3 ways HERE.)
Cropped blazer – $154.50
I snapped up this blazer during an earlier markdown, and really love it! (You’ll be seeing it here soon…) It’s also available in black and a soft pink (Summers, take a look…).
It’s a lighter weight, and there are actually small functional pockets in the lining, which is a nice touch!
(I ended up going down from my usual size 6 to a 4, and am happier with the smaller size.)

Make it a set with the matching tee….
This cream and butter colorway is lovely for Springs; Autumns check out the olive/moss combo!

Love the leopard jacket.
I never thought of the fix up for silver buttons by using gold nail polish! Great idea especially for “jeans” buttons that are punched in and can’t be replaced with a quick needle and thread.
I never thought of using nail polish on metal buttons……is there a particular type of polish that may work better than others. Thanks for the novel idea.
I just use whatever gold color is available. (Have had the same bottle for a couple of years.) Apply 1 coat, let dry, then a 2nd.
Did you decide if you are keeping that jacket yet?!
Not yet.
I love the leopard jacket and just ordered it. I will definitely be using polish to paint the buttons. What a novel idea!
As a summer, I appreciate the silver buttons on the animal print jacket. However, is that print even in the right shades for a summer?
By the way, Susan, thank you for alerting us last spring to the Cartier exhibit in London. I’ve booked my trip and will be seeing it soon. So excited for it, as well as for the Marie Antoinette and David Bowie exhibits at the V&A.
Some great recommendations here, thank you! And please, no offense intended (especially since I admire how beautifully you write and edit your posts), but there’s NO apostrophe in “Talbots.” At first I thought it was a typo or a simple oversight, but it seems it’s how you routinely spell it. As someone who works for Talbots’ parent company, Knitwell. I always wince when I see it, the way I do when I see my own name (and yours as Susan “Blakely”!) misspelled. (BTW, Talbots family members actually pronounce their name TALL-bit. Sadly nobody, including the company, cares about that either!)
Gosh, what a terrific items you have shown. If I lived in the USA, I would have bought the brown ankle boots. They are so my style.
Love your leopard jacket. Cannot compare it to the cardigan as I would have to see that on you.
The green shirt is magic.
