A Bouquet At Your Feet
It’s hard to miss that florals are everywhere this season. I love a good floral print, but at the same time find them difficult to wear, except as accents. Shoes and scarves, that’s (mostly) how I roll.
I like how floral print footwear adds a touch of color, pattern and whimsy to an outfit without going overboard, even with bold prints. Above, these low-heeled slide sandals in a cheery yellow are adorable in person. I’m going back soon to try them on.
The bright floral embroidery on these espadrilles made me think of Frida Kahlo.
More refined but not fussy, the block heel balances the softness of this feminine print.
They’re Gucci, so they’re pricey, but oh, that print is divine!
These Liberty Print sandals would look smashing with a simple caftan. Or with a tee shirt and jeans.
If your taste runs more to the minimalist and monochromatic, here’s an interesting way to incorporate a floral accent.
And because no footwear roundup feels complete these days without a sneaker, I present the twist on a classic.

I love some of the floral prints, but I feel somewhat overpowered by them. I’m short, and just stick with flowered scarves. I do love those sneakers! Not into sneakers, but these just might work!
My husband was fascinated by all the Chuck Taylor Converse All Stars he saw in Paris. Young women, rather elderly women – wearing the gym shoes he wore in high school.
I agree with you completely about the Gucci shoes – heavenly print, ‘heavens above’ price! I also love the Converse although I’m not a sneaker fan 🙂
I like floral prints and will wear dresses or tops with florals, as long as everything else is basic and neutral. But I really love floral shoes. You don’t mention them but Aldo (and I’m sure some other brands) has some lovely floral mules and slides at reasonable prices for those who can’t afford Gucci. 😉
I love the Haleema espadrilles and those are most affordable indeed. I’d like to see some reviews as to their comfort. They would be very much my style.
I do like some floral skirts, more of kind with greenery (leaves and stems), such as antique William Morris prints. I saw some fabric like that at a local knitting and fabric shop, but as the fabric wasn’t cheap (it couldn’t have been, given the quality) I didn’t want to buy it until I knew I had someone who could make a skirt for me from it.

I love those silk mules, but I cannot imagine wearing them anywhere but indoors. It rains far too much where I live!
I love floral dresses and tops but, as others have suggested, feel most comfortable when I tone them down with a denim vest or jacket and a casual sandal or cowboy boot. And as much as I wore scarves in my twenties in the 1980s, when they were kind of my “signature” item, I find most of them too fussy in my old age. I also feel like the ubiquitous “infinity” scarves middle-aged women wear everywhere these days will quickly date folks from this time period. I just don’t “get” a lot of them. Is it to hide necks, add instant “pizzazz” or what?
I like a little embroidery on denim too – jackets, vest, or jeans. Nice little touch.
Hi Pattycakes, I don’t wear infinity scarves, but do wear a lot of regular square and oblong scarves. I like them a) for warmth and b) to add some color and pattern to my outfits.
I must say, Susan, your scarves are beautiful and look pretty expensive. I think I could find a way to make use of most of them myself! 🙂

I bought several pairs of floral Birkenstock-style sandals from their lower priced brand a few years ago and I love them, so muchso that they’re falling apart and I’m looking to replace them. One pair had denim blue/brown/yellow, the other was pink/tan/black/white. If you go shopping for sandals with the predominant colors in your closet in mind you can end up with something that goes with lots of different outfits, and adds a fun splash.
