Home And Routine

Part of Edinburgh Castle as viewed from Princes Street

As much as I enjoy traveling, it’s always such a good feeling to come home. I missed our son and dogs and each time I return have a renewed appreciation for the comforts of my own turf. We arrived home early last evening, and I engaged in a flurry of unpacking right away; I knew as soon as I sat down the weariness and jet lag would kick in, and sure enough they did.

My body is still somewhat on London time, but it’s back to our weekday routine today regardless. I’ll resume a regular posting schedule next week, and have more bits of our trip to share (though I don’t want to be that neighbor who bores everyone with an endless slideshow of vacation snaps). In the meantime, here are a few random images from the last couple of weeks.

  1. Welcome back! You will NEVER be that neighbour who bores us with vacation photos! Great pics so far, and I note that jacket seems to have earned its keep (and weight allowance) on this trip. California warmth is probably one more thing you’re appreciating about home, sweet home. . .

    1. materfamilias, yes I’ll admit the warmth was nice after the cool, breezy weather. Though it was beginning to warm up a bit in London our last couple of days there. I was very glad to have the jacket for most of the trip.

  2. Your coat looks as though it served you well. I love to hear and enjoy other’s people’s adventures. Welcome home.

  3. I enjoy your travel pictures as much as my own! Hope you had a good trip, and welcome back!

  4. Glad you made it safe and sound… and do hope the jetlag isn’t too much of a killer… 🙂

  5. Welcome home! I do dislike that jet lag thing. Takes me ages to get over it fully.
Looking forward to lots of trip post..not boring neighbor-ish at all!

  6. So glad you are home safe and sound..I agree there is not place like it. But I still love to see your pictures and go along through the blog! Get some rest and love on your son!!

  7. Glad you are home and beginning the process of getting back into your regular routine. I just finished packing this morning and have used your packing post as a model of sorts. I did a much better job this time, but still have a ways to go to be able to carry-on. I hope you get over your jet lag quickly. You pictures have been a delight. Now it’s of to Paris (first time) as we continue to celebrate our 40th anniversary!

  8. I don’t get to travel enough and your adventures help sooth that sore spot. So keep the travel posts coming, if you wish!

  9. These pics are great, and I’m looking forward to more! For me, it’s a pleasure to travel vicariously with friends.

(And I’m pleased to see that your gloves got to take in the sights as well…)

  10. Welcome back! I love the picture of the gardens at Hampton Court. My family is currently in the habit of not traveling, because of the expense, but I would love to get back to traveling at some point! Is it bad that I just want to go alone, sans husband and kids? Any time we go somewhere it’s like I just take my mom show on the road and it never feels like a vacation at all, it feels like more work!

    1. Jill, thanks! I know what you mean about taking the Mom show on the road! I definitely do that when we travel with our son. Not quite so bad just traveling with le monsieur, though he does need help with packing and navigation.
