What I love this week: a colorful coup de foudre

Maybe it’s because our “May Gray” weather has been hanging on so long, or perhaps because I’ve been wearing mostly no-brainer neutrals lately. But a visit to see what’s new in some of the shops this week has me falling in love with wearing color again. Here are a few of my picks for every seasonal palette…

Susan B. wears a J.Crew striped cashmere sweater, ecru boyfriend jeans, a Saint Laurent LouLou puffer bag and patent leather boots.

Spring palette

When I spotted this sweater on a display table, it was love at first sight! Just looking at these colors makes me happy. Springs, these colors are Peach and Coral from our palette. It’s still cool enough here for light sweaters most days. The lighter neutrals make the look feel more in tune with the almost-summer season.

Summer palette

Summers, I know you’re looking for something besides blue, so I’ll start with a couple of picks for you…

I love a good Liberty print, and this one has some really pretty colors for Summers. Would look smashing with a pair of white jeans and some silver sandals….Sizes 00-24.

A lightweight cardigan is one of my summer essentials for cool evenings or air-conditioned interiors. This Dusty Lavender color is lovely in person. In Regular and Plus sizes.

And check out these sneakers too…pretty darn cute!

Autumn palette

Autumns, I was so excited when I saw the latest batch of new arrivals at Eileen Fisher

Eileen Fisher cotton gauze separates in Picante.
COTTON GAUZE SHIRT & PANTS

This Picante color looks to be close to the Rust in your palette. And the Seaweed color is a lovely olive green.

Winter palette

Winters, I know I’ve shown you a lot of blues and berries lately, but this green is a close match to Light Emerald in your palette! Sizes 00-24 (and take a look at the Purple Yam color too…)

How to find your best colors…

If you are interested in an in-person color analysis, I’ve just opened up some appointment slots for the summer. You can find out more information about the process and book HERE.

Bon weekend!

    1. It might be a bit too bright for most Autumns, but if you’re on the vivid end of the palette it could work.

  1. The new EF colors are so blah! Rust and olive?! Yes, I can see Autumns snapping them up, maybe, but why would a company issue autumnal colors in May? Just weird.

On the other hand, I love the other colors you’ve shown here, including the beautiful J Crew blouses — so cheerful and refreshing.

  2. Thanks for the seasonal palettes and shopping guides. They’re great. Your blog just keeps getting better and better!

  3. Susan, I love the Biden blouse for Autumn, so me!…but learned that they do not ship to Canada. Biden looks like a good company. I will be in London this time next week , and after my cruise ends , in Glasgow. I might check out what’s available then. Appreciate that you added the palette for reference. I have my mini book ( Red Leopard last April) and refer to the colours often. Life has become simpler when shopping!

  4. I love your blog too! Your style is probably closest to my ideal way to dress. I admire the interesting pieces you often combine with your classic clothing.

  5. Susan, thank you for taking the time to figure out clothing choices in the different seasonal palettes. You are so thoughtful to share your colour knowledge with your readers.

  6. Great post, Susan!
Thanks for color season info….so helpful.
Love to see you that you’re wearing booties. I’m always hesitant to wear them in spring/summer but my feet get so cold in sandals or open toe shoes. But the light color really works.
Seems like I pick up some tip or learn something from each post so…Merci!

  7. Oh… your orange/cream top is so much better than mine. I have a sort of polo neck one and I think it is far too masculine. Love yours though.
