Couldn’t agree more. Around here it’s “multiple aspects of house system,” i.e. electrical stuff, plumbing stuff, and so on.
Yep! The moon must be in Breakdown.
Argh, hate when mulitple things break down! In my family we always said things come in threes, just realized now we ususally were refering to problems, not good things 🙁
A corollary: always right before or right after you do something fun/expensive.
Another one: always right after you buy a house.
So sorry!
Soooo true – may we add autos, sprinklers, and runs in hosiery??
Another addition to that law: Just when you’ve save up to buy something fun, that’s when you get an unexpected bill.
Isn’t it always so? And especially soon after vacations? X
Oh noooo!
When it rains it pours in all the wrong ways. Why couldn’t it work out that we win the lottery, lotto, and powerball all at the same time instead?
I feel your pain..it never rains it pours appliance wise x
Ratzle fratzles. Sorry to hear. Last time this happened to us, we got a new washer AND dryer, allowing us that badge of adulthood, a matched set, without tossing a perfectly good one. Hope the deliveries come quickly and as scheduled.
Yes, I say, nervously eyeing my fridge, dishwasher, and stove, all bought at the same time 15 years ago . . .
good luck with replacements/repairs
I often wonder why it’s always one thing after another…
the Maytag repairman are not that lonely!
My mother’s appliances lasted far longer than mine.
Oh dear. So true. The rule of three.
Hullo I find it always seem to happen on a weekend! Ida
I’m a bit worried about my 28 year old dryer. It still works, although the matching washer (wedding presents) bit the dust a couple of years ago. I just find that the newer stuff often is not made as well as the old stuff, so I’d rather repair than replace, although repairing is often nearly as expensive….
If (when) the dryer goes, though, I probably will get a new one. I’m sure they don’t even have parts for the poor old thing any more….
Sod’s law is what we call it. And in our house it tends to apply not just to inanimate objects but also the living ones – we can never have one poorly pet, it has to be at least three out of the four. Oh, and I could start on children’s dentistry, but I won’t!
No comment–for fear I’ll jinx myself. This too shall pass…
Oh no! It’s so true though, everything goes all at once. One time, while my former husband and I were overseas, our washing machine water pipe broke — spontaneously, from age — and our condo flooded!
Hehe, this is such a cute post and why does this always seem to be true. I think when appliances break down, cars do too in the same week. It’s a nightmare. 🙂 Your blog is so nice and I’m following you now

This is going on in my life as we speak. Nothing like comic relief!
You are so right ; there must a formula in quantum physics that applies here…
