London So Far: My Fall Travel Outfits
The London weather has been delightful so far, more late summer than fall. (I’m missing a horrendous heat wave at home, and am not sorry about that!) My London fall travel outfits have leaned toward light layers and comfortable shoes, with a colorful scarf to finish things off. I’ve been getting outdoors and walking around as much as possible to help adjust to the time change, with a little shopping along the way. Here’s what I’ve worn so far, plus the scarves I packed to accommodate the changeable fall weather.

You can see my full travel capsule wardrobe here (before last-minute updates). Here’s what I’ve worn so far:
Travel Day: Comfortable Layers for the Flight to London

My sizes: Jacket – XS, Sweater – Small, Jeans – 8 Petite
It was a warm day when I left Los Angeles, so my travel scarf was stashed in my cabin bag. Anticipating a chilly plane cabin (and cooler weather at my destination), I opted for layers: a lightweight merino wool sweater over a silk tank, and a light jacket. As I often arrive in the morning a few hours before I’m able to check in to my hotel, I prefer to travel in clothing that feels put-together enough to wear for the first few hours at my destination.
Day 2: An Easy Outfit for a London Shopping Day
My friends at Red Leopard were finishing up another session of style training with a shopping day and invited me to come along. It was a great opportunity for some retail reconnaissance, and to refresh some of my own training. When I schedule a shopping day with clients, I suggest that they wear:
- clothes that are easy to get in and out of,
- a camisole that layers easily under tops for quick try-ons when a dressing room isn’t available
- shoes that slip on and off
So I took my own advice!

My sizes: Jacket – XS, Pants – Petite Small
Before I left home, I made two last-minute swaps to my travel capsule wardrobe and one Wild Card addition. I ditched the lighter wash and brown denim jeans, and added these casual Eileen Fisher utility pants, and a more polished pair of wool blend trousers. And for my Wild Card, I added the short-sleeve sweater (similar) I’m wearing above.
The scarf is a vintage Hermès 70x70cm, purchased second hand probably about 12-13 years ago.
Day 3: Stripes and Sneakers for Exploring Chelsea
I spent a few hours on my own exploring more shops along King’s Road. It was apparently Chelsea Dog Day so everyone was out with their pups (I already miss my Bella!). There were all sorts of dog-themed vendors set up in Duke of York square, and one shop had a pet photographer doing portraits, with quite a line outside.
I purchased this Sézane cropped silk shirt for my spring trip and wore it frequently. I’m wearing no-show socks with the sneakers but also packed a few pairs of regular socks to wear when it cools down.
The Scarves I Packed for Fall Travel
Some of you asked for details about scarves. Here are the ones I packed.

CASHMERE BANDANAS (SIMILAR, SIMILAR)
Right: LEOPARD CASHMERE WRAP | KNIT TRIANGLE (SIMILAR) | VINTAGE HERMES (SIMILAR) |
SILK BANDANA (c/o)
The different styles and weights will accommodate changing weather and add some color and variety to my outfits.
I’m off to Amsterdam soon, where it will be much cooler and wetter, so the sweaters will get to come out of the suitcase! Stay tuned for more travel updates…
