What caught my eye this week at Madewell
Madewell has often been a good source of casual, affordable basics with a cool, laid-back attitude, which feels just right for the times. While some of their styles are a bit more Boho (or oversized) than I prefer, the pieces I‘ve purchased wind up in heavy rotation.
earrings | sweater | necklace | jeans (similar) | ring | shoes
Above, I love the mix of knits on this sweater. The lighter, smoother texture on the sleeves makes it look neater and more refined. It’s a lighter cotton-merino blend, so will be wearable for 6 months out of the year here. I’m wearing an XS. (Jeans from a prior season, similar.)
…and there’s a sale on!
Madewell doesn’t do sales as often as some brands, but this weekend you can save 20% on purchases up to $200, and 30% on purchases over $200. Code is SPREETIME. Includes new arrivals.
I think these slingback mules would be a perfect choice when I want a little bit of heel but it’s too warm for boots. (They’re well-reviewed for comfort, too!)
A nice alternative to a jacket (especially for those of us in milder climates), this corduroy shirt jacket has side pockets! Can also be worn as a tunic. Three colors available, in sizes XX-Small to XX-Large.
Here’s a sherpa jacket that isn’t too boxy or bulky.
Front-seaming and a sophisticated burgundy color add polish to these track trousers.
I think the colors in this softly striped sweater are SO pretty!
For those who are sensitive or allergic to wool, here’s a cute beanie in a recycled cotton blend. Five colors available.
I have this fun color-block sweatshirt on order. Fingers crossed it won’t be too long for me…

Where have those sling-back mules been all my life!? Madewell ships to Canada & while these shoes are an eye-watering $214Cdn, at least that boosts it up into the 30% discount rate (there’s always a silver lining, right??) bringing them down to a respectable $150. I think that while my husband doesn’t know it yet, he’s buying me these for my birthday next month 🙂 Madewell has some great sweaters, too, which I like to wear with jeans when our PNW weather gets damp & chill, sometimes with a shirt underneath for warmth. Maybe DH will be buying me one of them , too!
😉 I think those sling-backs will be so versatile!
Actually, that shirt jacket would work fine in certain seasons up here, and indoors in the depth (death) of winter. I always layer and keep the heating low. And the colours are beautiful; obviously the weathered red, but also the deep grey, more flattering than black, expecially for the salt and pepper among us. With a brighter, long-sleeved t-shirt underneath. A question, would it be too long for us shorties?
I’m not sure, but once I’ve tried it on I’ll report back.
I also like the striped sweater, but the link appears to be wrong. Would you repost that?
Thanks!
Hi Mary, sorry about that. I’ve updated in the post, here’s the correct link: https://bit.ly/3lSVp14
Love Madewell. Especially their jeans!
I was so glad when they started offering more jeans in petite lengths. They really are good!
Thank you for sharing your talents with us. You have helped so many with what is a challenge of dressing these days.
Thanks very much, lynn! I’m glad you find it helpful.
The colors are just fabulous. You have a knack for zeroing in on the best items. I can’t pick a favorite but the Sherpa jacket is what I think I could use the most. I actually don’t own a coat, with our weather here on the coast being mild but it sometimes can turn on us and freeze. This would be perfect.
Thanks so much, Eve. Glad you like them!
If the colour block sweater is too long, just tuck it in. It is a nice one and it would be sad if you have to send it back.
The cream sweater is gorgeous and as you have seen, I share your love for cream sweaters with something extra. For you the knit, for me the buttons. And we both paired it with leopard haha. Great minds think alike.
Greetje
Thanks, Greetje! Now that I’m getting the hang of a half-tuck, I’ll see what I can do.
Love the corduroy shirt jacket. Too bad it’s not on sale☹️
Yes, unfortunately the sale ended yesterday.
