  1. Love the cross-body bag. I bought a wonderful, medium blue one to take to Ireland last year. With my yellow anorak, I stood out in all the group pictures. Going to Switzerland, Austria and Germany and will probably bring the yellow anorak. But a new black, cross-body bag would be a great addition. I’ve spent the last year living off my closet and not shopping. But if I don’t change up a few things, it will be the same wardrobe, traveling with the same group of people. Wonder if they’ll notice?

  2. I’ve become a big fan of Macy’s Charter Club cashmere sweaters. I have other brands but CC is great value (especially this time of year) with beautiful color palette. I prefer the v-neck. Never too hot or too cold, and forgiving around the middle. I recently retired after many years with a fabulous career wardrobe. I’m finally weeding my old life out of my closet. Thanks to your blog, I’ve discovered the joys of skinny jeans and riding boots!

  3. I like your selection, and the cross body bag is my favourite!
I have recently found a pair of wonderful booties by Armani!! And I have paid only 1/4 of the price…( yes, I know, I was very lucky! ) 🙂

  4. This might be a good opportunity to ask…what do you and your other readers see that is so wonderful about J.Crew? I’m asking in all sincerity. Maybe because they’re fairly new here in Toronto so I have no long term experience with their clothes – and was not impressed by the attitude I got when I did go in the store – but I’m just not getting it. I’ld really welcome any comments.

    1. Hi Laura, I can’t speak for everyone but I’ve found that J.Crew makes some good basic pieces (sweaters, jackets, pants) and some that are more “fun” (like those metallic flats). A lot of their styles are a bit too “out there” for me, and not everything works well with my body type. Most of the pieces I’ve purchased have been well made, and if you can hold out for sales and discounts, the prices often are good for the quality you get. Not all, and not all the time. They tend to bring back their basics season after season. I purchased the pea coat pictured at the top of the post during an earlier markdown and absolutely love it. It’s well-designed, the fabric feels sturdy but not stiff, the style is classic.

  5. Love J Crew but won’t buy any more because they up prices 40% (then add shipping) when you buy from Australia. Their styles are great, but their clothes are just not worth that much (not to me, anyway).

    1. Tiffany, I’ve heard their prices in the UK are also much higher than in the US. There’s just no excuse for that!

  6. With 40% discount and free shipping, I couldn’t resist the pea coat in navy. It’s on the way to me in Chicago! Thanks for the heads up.
