Outfit: Bold Moves

Houndstooth top
Covered Perfectly houndstooth top

When Pauline at Covered Perfectly let me know that she’d recently added new merchandise to the website, I popped over to have a peek. It took about a nanosecond to know I HAD to have this houndstooth top. The bold print and flattering open neckline add some pop to my wardrobe. The fabric on this top is substantial and slightly crisp for a knit, which works well with the pattern.

If you haven’t checked out Covered Perfectly tops recently, you’re in for a treat. In addition to new styles and fabrics, Pauline has expanded her Plus Size range. Lots to choose from! You can use code UF20 for a 20% discount at checkout. All items are made in the USA and washable.

I knew I’d want to balance out this bold top with some equally high-impact shoes. Karen had recommended these Julianne Hough for Sole Society red ankle strap shoes to me a few weeks ago, but wasn’t until I saw them on her and tried them moi-même that I was convinced. They really are comfortable, and the ankle straps make them feel very secure on the foot. And they look smashing.

  1. Your beautiful cat is my favourite bit of that outfit! It’s a lovely outfit, but the cat is lovelier… I saw an excellent pic somewhere on the internet of a guy with a cat sprawled on his head and the caption ‘It’s cold out, wear a cat’. I wish we could!

    1. Birdy, I wish he were our cat but he actually belongs to the neighbors. Le monsieur is deathly allergic to cats, so we can’t have one.

  2. You look insouciant! I think fabric weight is important in a graphic-design top. Cheers to Covered Perfectly for making an extensive size range.

  3. You look great! What a fantastic and eye-catching outfit, and still so simple. I really think houndstooth is going to be the next big thing, when we’re all tired of leopard and plaid.

  4. I so enjoy your posts/website. Age 57, barely 5’2″, determined to live a fun, full and interesting life… Your style and outlook on life are wonderful. Continue to share!

  5. Hi S you have styled it perfectly, houndstooth and Red is a winner, and the shoes are spectacular, will definitely pop in on the website, very dynamic pair and they fit your feet beautifully. I am going straight to my closet to revive houndstooth from a previous life. Love the top!!!

  6. I am digging the red shoes and the houndstooth top. I love crazy patterns in my Hermes scarves. Other than that my favorite pattern is stripes. Thank you for the dose of Lars. He seems like he’s the mayor of your street. I love a cat who comes out to greet everyone!

  7. Love the entire look, the houndstooth with red looks great! I checked out the website for the tops and found several that would be great additions to my wardrobe, especially the teal Mandy. Lars is looking great. I mentioned in a previous post that my cat’s name is Lars as well!

  8. LOVE the pop of red in the shoes. They totally make the outfit – give it a little fun edge. Thanks for linking up this week to the Fashionista Style Hop. – Katy

  9. Great shoes! And I love the top. Sadly, Covered Perfectly seems to specialize in 3/4 sleeves. Perfect for summer, but I live in the midwest and need long sleeves most of the year. And my arms are a bit long, and the 3/4 sleeve shows that off in not such a good way. Sad, because I could surely go for a great houndstooth top like that.

  10. You look so pretty!
I just ordered my second top per your recommendation from Covered perfectly.

Just ordered my first Karina dress today(per your blog) & will let you know what I think.
Really enjoy your blog & it is one of the 3 that I must read each Am with my coffee.
    Thanks for all your inspiration,Kim

  11. Oh Pseu! Ok those shoes are super nova- I LOOOOVE them- the wicked color, the takes-two-to-tango ankle straps and the takes-no-prisoners points at the toe. Wow. And ZAH.

And I love this whole outfit. Perfection if you ask me- lovable, classic and (on trend again) Houndstooth, in a gorgeous well fitting top. SOLD. You look so chic and sexy. I think this may be my favorite ensemble of yours yet. You are gorgeous.

Thank oyu for linking up to Shoe Shine!

  13. Holy cow! That is the best ankle/foot shot I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t have to tell you how much I adore your shoes, do I? The colour reminds me of Julia Robert’s dress in Pretty Woman when she met that guy at the airport and the jewellery box bit her – not that I’m a fan of the movie but I remember the colour of the dress vividly.
