Paris, when it drizzles

Paris in the rain 2

Bouquinistes in the 6th.

So the plan for today’s post was to share some of my favorite travel snaps from this past year. But something weird happened over the weekend: my entire media library on WordPress vanished, and has slowly been re-loading, though in no particular order. Imagine almost 8 years’ worth of blog images, now randomly arranged, and you get some sense of why I’ve had to scrap that idea. We’re anticipating more rain today, so here are a few rainy day images from our visit to Paris in May….

Paris in the rain 1

We were seated under a cafe awning, enjoying lunch and a glass of wine during this substantial downpour. There’s no finer vantage point.

Puddles are no impediment to a bit of outdoor time….

Even on a dreary day, Paris dazzles.

Something with computers this week! Everything in our office wanted to continue Christmas break, I suppose. Regardless, today’s post is beautiful. If this is what happens when it all goes downhill, you still manage to pull it all together in style!

Yes, Paris dazzles in any kind of weather. I especially enjoyed these photos. For another city which dazzles, try Istanbul. I believe that it rivals Paris!

Wonderful post – the rain doesn’t steal from the beauty. I love a grand city in the rain. xo

So frustrating! Are you getting to Paris again soon?

Rain never really affects my Paris days. The parks and cafés are just as wonderful!

We’re at this moment planning our trip to France for May. This is just what I need to get back on track after the post-Christmas “time of great sluggishness.”

The minute the Ritz reopens next year, I am booking my flight!

Oh my goodness! That would be so frustrating — I hope the photos shuffle themselves back into the order you’d once set them in. Meanwhile, thoughts of Paris distract, wonderfully . . .

I’m way overdue to re-visit Paris… Thank you for the beautiful reminder!

How frustrating to have that issue with your picture library but good to hear they are reloading….
Santa popped a wee brolly in my stocking for my trip to Paris and I will be staying in that arrondissement which looks charming even in the rain….if you plan to visit Paris in late April or early May perhaps we could meet up?

The last time I was in Paris was in early December and the weather was rainy & chilly. Somehow it was even more charming. Your photos bring back that familiar feeling of watching the world go by from the vantage point of a cozy cafe. Now I’m longing to go back…Happy New Year!

Did I see you at Water Grill in Santa Monica at lunchtime, just before Christmas? We were there lunching with my husband’s stepdaughter and her husband.

The same random-reloading thing happened to me a few weeks ago…but there was a reason. I had switched the plug in for related posts w which appears at the bottom of each post. Nrelate just stopped being…they went out of business. So I switched to another plugin, “Related Posts from Zemanta”, and yes, so frustrating to see old, old, old images added every day to my library! It’s definitely slowed down (or is running out of old images..) but still, every time I check there are ancient images right there. Ah well.
Of course, I love Paris any time, but I do actually find the rain hard to manage there. It just makes getting around so much more difficult; but then, that’s true in any city!

Ah, that must be it! I did the same thing.

You are so calm! I’d be tearing out my hair! But then, of course, I don’t have bunches of glorious Paris photos lying around to pinch hit.
