What I’m Seeing on the Streets of Paris (So Far…)

Our inaugural Paris Fashion Tour has just wrapped up, and what an incredible week it was! We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather or a lovelier group of women — the itinerary was a wonderful mix of activities, and everything flowed beautifully. A full recap is coming soon!

What I Packed for Paris: my 9-piece capsule.

In the meantime, I know you’re all eager to hear what Parisians are wearing this spring and summer. I’ll be doing a bit more “style spying” over the next couple of days before I head back to London, with the full report to follow in the next few days. Here’s a sneak peek at the Parisian spring style trends I’ve spotted so far.

A casual Parisian spring capsule…

The Palette: Light, Neutral & Effortless

While you will see more color being worn in Paris during warmer months, neutrals are still the palette of choice here. Still some black, but less of it, as Parisians lean more into lighter neutrals: white, ecru, beige, grey, light to medium wash denim. Here are a few of the common themes I’ve noticed most often as we were out and about.

Relaxed Silhouettes: Straight & Wide-Leg Everything

Jeans and trousers are going softer this season — ankle to full-length straight and wide-leg cuts are everywhere right now. I’ve also spotted some pleated, balloon and wrap pants styles.

Short Jackets: The Cropped Trench Moment

It may be because the weather has been unseasonably warm, but I’m not seeing full-length trenches. Cropped trench styles are popular, including this “Bobby” jacket from Sézane, as well as the slightly longer “Carter” style. (Everyone wears them with the cuffs turned up to show the fun gingham print lining.) Also take a look at:

The White Tee: A Parisian Non-Negotiable

Not a trend exactly, but I’m consistently seeing refined styles in smooth, opaque fabrics, hip-length and worn untucked, with relaxed-not-baggy fits. Sleeves are slightly loose, hitting above the elbow (not cap sleeves).

Pointelle Details: Pretty Meets Practical

Tops and sweaters with pretty pointelle weaves not only add texture to simple outfits, but provide a bit more airflow on warmer days. The styles I’ve noticed worn here are usually in light neutrals, though you’ll also see red, navy, light blue, and shades of brown.

Footwear: Chunky Sneakers & Sturdy Sandals

I’d been prepared to see lots of dainty, sleek sneakers this season, but no! Big, chunky, athletic sneakers (especially Asics) are everywhere. (It may be that styles will get lighter as the season progresses.) Because of the warm weather, I’ve seen some women opting for sandals, which are usually sturdy and look comfortable for walking.

That’s the sneak peek for now! I’ll be out doing a bit more observation before I head back to London, and will have the full spring & summer style report ready in the next few days. In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you — which of these “trends” are you wearing? Drop a comment below, and stay tuned for the complete recap of our Paris Fashion Tour!

We still have a few spaces for the next Paris Fashion Tour in September...if you’ve been thinking about joining us, book now to reserve your spot!
