Scarf Tutorial: “Le Demi”

Scarf Tutorial le demi

Ok, so that’s not an official name for this arrangement; it’s just something I made up. 😉

This one is vraiment facile, though it may require periodic adjustment, as it’s not as secure as some of the arrangements I’ve shown previously. It works best with fabrics that “grab”; slippery fabrics won’t hold this tie.

  1. As with the last tie, grab a corner and let the scarf drape diagonally. Fold in half lengthwise.
  2. Drape around neck with loop on one side and ends on the other.
  3. Pass just one of the ends through the loop.
  4. Adjust and admire your handiwork!

Duchesse mentioned this on the earlier post and I agree with her, that a vivid color like this near the face calls for a bit bolder lip color. I think I have just the one. For daytime wear I don’t want to go full-on red, but a sheer, bright pinky-coral I think will do nicely.

  1. I do one more twist in the loop and that will hold it a bit more securely. The official name for that one is ‘the pretzel’. I think. :))

  2. Pretty lipstick but by the time I pay sales tax, that’s $43! How about Maybelline Colorsensational, an excellent hydrating lipstick, in “Red Revival” for around $8?

  3. Duchesse, according to the http://goodguide, which checks
ingredients of cosmetics and marks them by risk – Maybelline is notoriously bad, scoring 0 out of 10…. it’s a great site to confirm which products are safe –

  4. The timing for this tutorial is perfect as I am fresh out of ideas how to wear scarves but besotted with them, hording scarves as if they are never to be found again. The colour is awesome, in true festive spirit! Great post Susan!

The FDA conducted a large-scale follow-up of 400 lipsticks and, in December 2011, concluded:
“Lipstick, as a product intended for topical use with limited absorption, is ingested only in very small quantities. We do not consider the lead levels we found in the lipsticks to be a safety concern.”

This bulletin contains extensive information about the safety of lipstick.
