Spring Beauty Refresher

A New Favorite Lipstick

A few weeks ago, my friend Brian of Makeover Workshop dropped off some new lipsticks for me to try out. He’d just added these to his line of beauty and skincare products, and was still deciding on names for each of the five colors. Above, I’m wearing Roj, a warm pink for daytime.

I LOOOOVE this new formula! It’s sheer (but buildable), feels very balmy and moisturizing, but lasts a long time. And the colors are so wearable! They’re great for Spring. Above, Pessego Puro, a pretty daytime peach.

I highly recommend the lip liners too, they really help the color last longer. Neapolitan is the one I use most often, it works with so many of my favorite lip colors. Above, I’m wearing that liner with Blomme.

Beauty Products I Buy On Repeat

Here’s a video we shot at Brian’s Makeover Workshop Studio earlier this week, with yours truly modeling all five colors (one at a time, of course… 😉 ).

I should mention that the last color (Nit Primavera) looks a little darker in person than on the video, but after wearing it around for a while, I warmed up to it and would definitely wear out in the evenings.

Here’s the full evening look, with Nit Primavera lipstick.

Pessego Puro and Roj are more warm-toned, Emmaveepee is neutral, and Bloome and Nit Primavera are slightly cooler.

  1. Your lead photo is gorgeous!!! You look luminous! Just want to say “thank you” for all your posts and good advice. Love your blog. Happy March!!!!

  2. Great post Susan…As a lipstick junkie who has pared back to essentials, I love the video demonstration.

  3. Great colors on you. You look MAH-velous! Really. Talk about your eyebrows next. I’d been using Lauren Hutton Good Stuff for years but they have phased out and I cannot find a satisfactory eyebrow product.

  4. Thank-you for introducing me to Makeover Workshop. I know they offer eye cream, but I’d like to know what eye cream you recommend. I’ve bought several over the years, some of which have been quite pricey. I’ve yet to find one that smooths the lines around my eyes, firms the sagginess that sets in after 60, and softens the crepey texture. I’ve recently considered La Mer but before I dive into that end of the price-pool, I’d like to hear from some of my fashion and beauty role models – including you! Please give me your unbiased opinion and recommendation. With thanks!

    1. Hi Lianne, your mention of LaMer caught my eye. I have only tried one product, the foundation, and as much as I don’t want to pay the price, it is totally worth it. I expect the skin care products are also great. I cringe at the $120 for the foundation and only wear it if I’m going out for the day. Just running around town only gets the lesser Priced product from a different brand.Lol!

  5. Wow! Being able to see your face up close is a treat!! You look great; If you are still growing out your hair or looking for a new style, I think the short in the back then longer angled at the face. All the lipsticks look great on you, you have my coloring so I will have to go to the website & check it out. Thanks for all of your posts!

  6. A new lipstick always puts a spring in my step! It’s fun to have a make-up artist see something “trendy” on me…I can always go back to my old favorites when I’m in the mood. Thanks for the encouragement to be open to change!

  7. I try new lipstick colors from time to time but I always go back to Clinique Different Grape – I’ve been wearing it since the 1970s.

  8. You look so fresh and pretty! Love your posts and have to say you are my “Fashion Enabler'” as I have purchased two of your recommended J.Crew Sophie sweater jackets (Blush and Camel) and just love them. Keep all the great advice coming!

  9. Your skin looks fantastic! Could you share what foundation (or BB or CC cream) you are wearing? The finish is beautiful

  10. I’d never heard of Makeover Workshop, but I sat up and took notice when you reviewed the lip treatment. I have winter eczema and my lips peel as soon as the weather temps drop. It has been a miracle worker! I have had NO peeling all winter! I’ve even used it on some red, peeling spots on my face and it cleared them up! Thank you so much for sharing this product info on your blog. I have the same eye issues as you, so I’m eager to give the eye cream a whirl.

  11. I love those colors on you. I personally stick with a combination of Bobbi Brown and Ole Henriksen. I also use StriVectin religiously. I would also love to see those makeup colors on you when you’re wearing color so as to be able to really see you in a color that makes it all blossom. 🙂 Or *pop* as they say.

  12. You look fantastic! Very pretty. And thank you for showing makeup for both warm and cool skin tones. It makes such a huge difference in helping us look our best.

  13. The most fun for me on this (although the lipsticks are lovely) was hearing your voice and watching you move! Tres cute!

  14. I find that I’m having to buy warmer red lipsticks as they all inevitably become bluer on me.
Karen Murrell lipstick has become my favoured choice recently. No nasties 😉

  15. Hello there! Could you tell me whether or not you’ve used Makeover Workshop’s eyelash curler? Does it really work better than the others out there that are available? Thank you for your input!

    1. Hi Robin, yes I have used it and like it. It curls, doesn’t crimp, and the ergonomic handles and spring action make it easy to use.

  16. Thank you SO much for your lip color recommendations! The Makeover Workshop products look like something I would love and the video is great. I’m 50 and have olive skin, light brown hair, and dark eyes – thinking EmmaVeePee and Blomme might work for me. Love your blog and fashion sense!

  17. Revisiting this post from March 2019 and wondering what foundation (if any) you are wearing? Your skin has that dewy, luminous look that I often see on celebrities and would love to achieve myself. Any suggestions as to skin care and/or makeup that you use to get that healthy, glowy finish?

  18. Also revisiting this post from last year. Your skin looks so dewy! Is that from the primer or did he use an illuminating moisture balm after applying your makeup? I’m considering getting a laser peel. Any thoughts?
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Lisa, this is just the primer over the regular moisturizer. I’m not sure what a laser peel is, but I get IPL treatment annually for dark spots and love it.
