Spring & Summer Travel Amenities You’ll Want to Pack for Your Next Trip

Ah, the joys of Spring and Summer travel! No matter the destination, having the right travel amenities can make all the difference. Today, we’re going all out on favorite travel essentials that will keep you comfortable, stylish, and ready for adventure!

Lightweight Layers

When it comes to travel, versatility is key. Pack lightweight layers that can be mixed and matched for various outfits, and help keep you comfortable in a range of temperatures. Think lightweight cashmere scarves from J.Crew, breathable tees, and Ruti’s chic denim pants for cooler evenings. Brands like Eileen Fisher and Madewell offer timeless pieces that are perfect for layering and easy to pack.

Comfortable Footwear

Your feet deserve some TLC, especially when exploring new destinations. Opt for stylish yet comfortable shoes like Madewell sandals, Josef Seibel sneakers, and versatile slip-ons. Look for options from brands known for their comfort, such as Vince, Vionic, Paul Green, and Mephisto.

Stylish Sun Protection

Stay sun-safe with a classic J.Crew bucket hat (so easy to travel with!) and Madewell’s Oval sunglasses which are on trend right now. Harmful UV rays begone!

Compact Travel Accessories

Invest in compact travel accessories like a customized travel tote from Tour Paravel, a universal travel adapter and a sleek Madewell travel wallet or nifty lightweight crossbody bag! These small yet mighty items can make your travel experience smoother and more enjoyable.

Noise-Canceling Headphones

Block out the noise and relax with a good pair of noise-canceling headphones. They’re perfect for watching movies, listening to music, or simply catching some in-flight shut-eye. I’ve been eyeing these limited edition Bose headphones!

Statement Accessories

Add a pop of personality to your travel outfits with statement accessories. Think Madewell’s bold but comfortable hoop earrings and silk scarves. And don’t forget my favorite new travel bag, the Lo & Sons Aoyama bag, which converts from a cross body to shoulder bag to hand held. How convenient and stylish is that? These pieces can transform a simple outfit into a stylish statement.

Versatile wardrobe staples to smart packing solutions, these travel essentials are designed to make your journey as enjoyable as the destination. So, pack your bags with confidence, embrace the adventure, and step out in style!

  1. I took my new Lo & Sons Aoyama on my (very!) recent two week trip to France and it was great. When I wanted extra security I put my iPhone in the internal zippered compartment but when I was say, in an uncrowded museum and wanted to take pictures, I could swap it to the external pocket for easy access. The one night we took a cab to dinner at a fancier restaurant, I switched it from cross body to hand held and it was a nice way to elevate my outfit and feel a bit more à la mode.

I could fit in it my glasses case, wallet, small cosmetics bag, small “miscellaneous” bag, small map, battery pack for my phone and a small adaptor and cord, and for day trips I could add a small knitting project. Knitting on a train is one of my favorite things – it’s a great way to appreciate the country side.

  2. Thank you for the great suggestions. Will you link the stripe and white top shown in the first grouping of outfits?

  3. When I click on any of your Nordstrom links, I can’t get through. My phone asks to “Allow or don’t allow “, but either way, I can’t connect to the Nordstrom item. This is a recent change. I used to be able to access easily.
    Love your blog!

    1. Hi Janet, I’m not sure what’s causing that. My links are all to the US Nordstrom site; if you’re in Canada or another country, it may be directing you to those sites. Thanks for letting me know and I’ll look into it.

  4. Absolutely love the barrel jeans and striped t! After checking, I realized there are two styles of barrel jeans. I think you have the ultimate pair? Do you know what the difference is between the styles? I can check with ruti but wondered if you had any info. I’m totally smitten with ruti….not sure I should thank you since it’s likely to cost me a small fortune!

    1. Hi Linda, thanks! I have both. The “Classic Barrel” jeans I’ve linked to in this post are a darker wash and (slightly) lighter-weight fabric, and are the style I’ve been wearing most often, and would pack for travel. https://bit.ly/3Vcv964 The “Ultimate Barrel Leg” style is a lighter wash, and has more seaming details on the lower part of the leg. https://bit.ly/4ahYQYk Both styles are great, it’s just a matter of which you prefer.

  5. For traveling, I love vests with lots of pockets – but it’s hard to find one that is stylish at all. I have one from Duluth Trading Co. that is cute and casual, and getting a lot of use. So much easier on the shoulders/back/hips than carrying a bag!

  6. I look at the weather during daytime and pack for that. Totally forgetting that temperatures may drop significantly during the evening, leaving me shivering while having my evening meal on a terrace .

  7. I have the Bose headphones in White Smoke — they are incredible! I’ve paired them with my iPhone and iPad and can watch/listen in total comfort.

  8. I have several oversized Pashmina scarves that I love. Mot only are they great for traveling, I always grab one if I have to go to the emergency room, or stay in a hospital. And some restaurants love to crank up the A/C on hot summer days, so it’s good to have the oversize scarf to enable a comfortable dining experience.
