This is the time of year I often find myself in the Style Doldrums. And this summer…I’m feeling it even more acutely. I’m more in a mood to clear our and winnow down than to acquire, and have been on a big organizing spree the last couple of days.
A Summer Garden Refresh
But I’ve also been enjoying spending time in our garden. We’re in the process of refreshing some of the plants. These new plantings always make happy to look at…they’re like eager little puppies.
We’re also updating a couple of our large containers with some interesting succulents. Still figuring out what will go where, but I’ll share some photos once everything’s done.
This is also the time of year I usually give myself a little blogging break. Now seems like a good time. I’ll post if something inspires me, and may “encore” some of your favorites, but otherwise will be en vacances until early August or so.
How are you giving yourself a break this summer?
Have a wonderful break…and know that you will be missed! I have been downsizing my wardrobe too, but will be passing by our newly reopened Chico’s later today…hmm.
Tara – You are in trouble if you are going near Chico’s! lol I have a terrible time actually going past one! lol
We don’t have Chico’s up here. Probably just as well, as I’m trying to avoid fast fashion. Have a wonderful summer; will you be travelling anywhere (nearby)? I do love your additions to the garden – my garden is two balconies (herbs and flowers).
Hi Lagatta, I don’t consider Chico’s “fast fashion.” They don’t produce in the quantities or with the turnaound time of a Zara, for example. The quality is generally better, too.
Enjoy a much needed break! Sorry we aren’t all able to travel to get away but we do what we must to keep sane and happy. Personally, I hope there is a puppy in your near future! Perfect time to get one! I love my boy and he’s been a great soulmate for me.
Enjoy your break Susan! Love that colorful wind chime and the puppy plants. Thanks for all the work you put into your blog, and I’ll look forward to new content in August after your break.
Oh gosh holiday, taking a break from blogging, I have never done that. Then again I only post once a week. But a lengthy one haha.
Susan, you’ve more than earned your break this summer! Enjoy!
Girl, take a break; you work SO hard for us & we really appreciate it! You have taught me that color is your friend; I was going to go to Red Leppard in October but alas the best laid plans………… But, it forced me to seek out what colors I am (I can’t wait until maybe in 2 years to go to RL, I miss London SO much!) & I am enjoying my journey with color.
Enjoy your break and take some time to just do ‘you’. I will miss the girl chat, but when you are back it will be all the sweeter. I love the glass windchimes you pictured and may have to look into something like those. All the best to you and your family on this break. My yard and flowers are my life savers in all this.
Your wonderful blog has lifted my spirits–and provided some great guidance!–in challenging times. Have a great break, and I’ll eagerly look out for your return.
Have a wonderful break. xoxo.
Bonnes vacances, Susan!
Have a wonderful break. Where did you purchase the wind chimes? They are lovely.
Thanks, they were a gift from friends, given many years ago.
I believe I see them at uniquepewter.com. Tempted!
Before you go, I have a small question.
In one of today’s photos, you show an urn at the edge. Is it concrete/stone or one of the lightweight faux stone urns? I ask because I’m looking into them at the moment & would appreciate any insights. What are your thoughts on it?
Thanks & enjoy your respite!
Hi Florence, it’s one of the lightweight faux stone ones. We like it because we can move it around easily.
Thank you. I’ve been going back & forth on the plusses & minuses of both, as well as the cost.
I appreciate your comment.
Enjoy a little time off. Look forward to seeing you when you’re back.
Have a joyful, peaceful vacation. Thank you for what you do to brighten our days.
Have a wonderful break ! Love your blog.
Enjoy & you will be missed
Enjoy your time off Susan! Thank you for all that you share. So appreciate it. It has helped me so much.
Hopefully you will want to come back!! LoL!
Bonne vacances! Enjoy your break and I love your garden especially that multicolored wind chime.
Beautiful plants. I think the colors would make a wonderful outfit. We will miss you but there is a time to rest.
Susan, thank you for all you do. Enjoy your well deserved break.
Wishing you “bons vacances” – we finally are at our island home and so happy to just drink in the ocean air/enjoy the quiet (until the neighbours’ deck construction project resumes!)
Will look forward to “le retour”.
Hmm – strictly (I have found the French are strict about these things), I should have said “I look forward to “la rentrée”.
Will miss your writings for the next couple of weeks. Enjoy your time off with your family and your beautiful garden. I agree, now just might be a good time a new puppy. Life without a fur baby is empty. Bons vacances!
