A Few Of My Favorite Things
A Curated Collection
I was delighted when Brian of Makeover Workshop invited me to collaborate on some makeup and skincare Beauty Boxes. These are all products that I have purchased for myself, and have recommended previously here. Now you can enjoy special pricing for the collections, plus receive a bonus gift with each!
The Makeup Beauty Box has my favorite MW blush and lip colors, plus a bonus dual sharpener (very handy for travel or to keep in your makeup bag). I’m wearing both the Neapolitan Lip Liner and rue Rivoli Lipstick in the top photo. This lip liner is such a great color, and works with almost all of my lipsticks, including reds! It stays put, and really helps keep your lipstick in place.
The Skin Care Beauty Box includes:
- Firming Neck and Throat Creme (have noticed my neck is smoother since I’ve been using this, am now on my second jar 👍 )
- Tinted Primer (I use this on its own for nice sheer coverage)
- Re-Creation Lip Treatment (love, love, love this!! Smooths the lips and prevents flakiness)
plus a bonus Foundation brush!
Both of these Beauty Boxes are already value-priced, but you can get an additional 15% off these or any of the individual products listed on the Susan’s Favorites page with code SUSANFAVE ! And you can use code freeship+65a at checkout for free shipping on all orders over $65. Order by December 19 for Christmas delivery.
Jammies
I’ve periodically received requests for a post on sleepwear recommendations. I’m afraid it would be a pretty short post, as I’ve been mostly wearing Soma “Cool Nights” sleepwear for the last few years. Longer pajamas in the winter, chemises or shorter pajamas in warmer seasons. They are comfortable, and hold up very well. (Fancy lingerie they are not.) They last for a couple of years or more, if you avoid hot water or hot dryers. And the buttons don’t come loose, a big plus in my book. Shown above, pajama top in “festive red” (matching bottoms here). Both are currently marked down, so I just ordered to replace an older pair.
Cute And Practical
I first purchased this little zip wallet about 3 years ago when I needed something smaller for travel. I was smitten with those polka dots. It was a little spendy but this has turned out to be an incredibly practical and durable item. I’ve never switched back to my larger wallet. I’ve continued to use it daily, and it still looks like new. It’s also very well designed, and holds quite a lot for such a small wallet.
Everlane has a very similar style for considerably less. (Other colors available too.) And for the next couple of days, they’re offering free 2-day shipping. Just in case you need any last-minute gifts.
Everlane also has a slew of cashmere sweaters for $100, for both women and men.
Are you still doing holiday shopping, or have you finished?

Susan, you are a mind-reader! Just yesterday I was putting together some capsule wardrobe ideas for our upcoming 3-week trip to France in March. I really need a new pair of pajamas, and recalled a post in which you mentioned a favorite. I couldn’t remember the brand for the life of me. And what shows up the VERY next day? Soma Cool Nights………wow. Just WOW. You’re amazing. Happy Holidays to you! And many thanks!
I’m right with you Susan. I love Makeover Workshops, Primer, lip-treament, Rue Rivoli lipstick, lip pencil and cream blush. Excellent suggestions. I’m now going over to Soma to check on their PJs. Love your wallet recommendation also. Love your style.
Hi Susan, I’m on the Soma website now and the Cool Nights nightwear looks great so I”m going to order some. Love your blog…Merry Christmas
I have no interest in make-up and beauty products (strange, right?) and presents from the USA are a no go as well but I do love your sunglasses.

Why do you give the impression that it’s about women of a certain age yet you use these young models. I am happy I know the superb value of Soma’s products and not impressed by these models
Hi Eunice, I don’t choose the models. The images are from the retailer’s website. I think most of us would agree that we’d like to see more models from a range of sizes and ages represented.
I think your blog looks so professional and is so well written, people assume you are creating every aspect of it (down to setting up photo shoots for models for every item you recommend or discuss). [Insert shrug]. Thanks for the post Susan! Great ideas.
I’m marvelling at your beautiful skin! I do like these close up shots, more please 😉
I have that Comme des Garcons wallet as well! Bought it many years back for international travel, and found that I go back to it again and again. Much preferred over my beautiful big Gucci continental. A great value!
Hi Susan! I was wondering if you have tried the cropped Everlane sweaters. My hope is that they will be friendlier to my petite frame. https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-cashmere-crop-v-neck-softpink
I love their high-waisted ankle length denim.
