Technical Difficulties

Je suis désolé, mes amis, but this is as good as it gets with the tuxedo action shot.  I need to work on lighting and figure out how to make the auto focus work correctly.  Good intentions, yada yada.

Tuxedo jacket: J.Crew
Scarf:  J.Crew
Silk blouse:  Ann Taylor

Shoes:  Fluevog

Many years ago, I would’ve been up at 4:30am on May Day and on the road to go dance the sun up with my Morris Dancing chums.   You know who you are.  😉  Hope it was a good time.

  1. Not bad at all. Better than cutting your head off! I often use a tripod for my photos. Are you using the flash? It’s good to lighten you up especially since you are against a lighter background. The auto exposure is going to read all that white and underexpose you. My camera has a face recognition for the time exposures meant for when the photographer joins the group, but it will, work for just me when I show up. Also helpful to set for more than one picture if you have this feature.

  2. I’d say that’s not bad at all — all of you is in the photo, as Nancy K points out. And I see how cleverly you’ve created a faux-tuxedo . . .
I thought of MayDays in Paris, with the lilies-of-the-valley being sold on every corner; never thought of Morris dancers, but of course you would — it’s easy to forget about your many areas of experience and expertise;-)

  3. You look great – love the tuxedo outfit and impressed with tripod action too! This afternoon I was thinking “oh its a bit chilly” and then I thought “I’d have hated to have been up early this morning heralding in May day” !

  4. You look great in this (talk about long and lean!) AND I’m impressed with the tech results.

That situation with Ceara is sad/ridiculous; thanks for spreading the word about the injustice.

  5. The jacket and pants, which are jeans, but which look like a pair to the jacket, make a statement with the shirt. It looks good on you! I could not work it out on me.

  6. Thanks everyone! I feel so Rat Pack here! Somebody get me a martini.

I’m still struggling with getting the auto focus to work correctly when the timer function is used, but hopefully I’ll have that ironed out soon.
