The Gifted Class

Some tried-and-true or unique-and-useful last-minute gift suggestions for far-flung family and friends.
Most e-tailers are still offering expedited shipping, so Santa or the Hannukah Fairy can still be on time.
1. See’s Candy. Sure, there’s Godiva and Leonidas and Teuscher and Valrhona. But for those of use who grew up with it, See’s will always be the sentimental favorite. Don’t get me wrong, this is very good chocolate. Toffee-ettes are also a great choice.

2. Sheepskin moccasin slippers from Celtic Sheepskin. I have a pair of these with the hard soles (great for those cold-morning trips out to fetch the newspaper) and practically live in them at home. Who wouldn’t enjoy a little warm-and-fuzzy comfort this time of year?

3. L’OCCITAINE Shea Butter Hand and Foot Care Set. This is really gold-standard lotion. The hand lotion is unscented, and the foot lotion has the most delicate lavender scent.

4. Neiman Marcus is offering FREE two-day delivery with code NMFAST. How about a set of Handbag Hooks:

Or for the Cocktail-Challenged, or for someone who just loves unique gadgets, a Professional Martini Maker:

Or for the very discriminating Sharp Dressed Man™ a set of Jan Leslie Collar Stays:

5. To brighten up those drab winter days, some Paperwhites from Jackson & Perkins:

7. And last but not least, pears so good your eyes will roll back in your head: Royal Riviera Pears from Harry & David. Get a box for yourself too…you’ve been good all year!

  1. If I got the See’s and the Harry and David Pears, wouldn’t that be a perfect diet, along with a martini? I do prefer mine in a manual shaker, so I’d ask for Tiffany sterling olive picks.

  2. What a Wonderful list of last-minute gifts! I absolutely love toffee-ettes (because they are Very Similar to Almond Rocha). I sort of want that martini machine but then Pierpont would have nothing to do! I can tell lots of thought went into this post. You are tres tres generous with your online shopping codes. Thank you!

  3. Couture Allure – aren’t they though? I always buy a box for us too.

Tessa~Scoffs – thanks! I’ll post more shopping codes when I get them. Using those can save a lot of money.

Duchesse – throw in some Prosciutto for protein and you could survive on a desert island for months!

  4. Bonnie-Ann – aren’t they though? Probably the only fruit I’d describe as “rich.”

Nanflan – yes it’s great to be able to swing by and pick up a box on the way to someone’s house.

Wendyb – I usually send the Tower of Treats to my dad and stepmom. He loves those cherries too!

  5. I am not ashamed to admit; I’ll take See’s over ANY fancy chocolate from Paris!!!!

And I am addicted to that hand creme. It’s the best really.
