  1. I don’t wear anything that doesn’t have a low vamp, and ankle srtraps give my legs a Miss Piggy look, but if I were a fine-ankled filly, I’d like the BR ones better—they are really elgant. The YSL ‘s are sort of Le Chateau to me—it’s hard to wear CFM pumps; there’s a fine line between Charlize Theron and Courtney Love with those kinds of shoes. I do prefer the bronze metallic over the gold, though….picky, picky, picky!

  2. Duchesse, it hurts my feet just to look at those shoes! I haven’t worn high heels for 40 years, and have had several foot surgeries, and one more coming up sometime in the future (aaargh, six weeks in a cast)!

  3. I can just imagine how cut up and bleeding my feet would be after a day of walking around in either pair of those shoes.
I’m not destined to have chic feet…sigh.

  4. Sher – even the heel on the BR shoes is too high for me! 🙂

Katriona – even without the heel heights, the YSL’s aren’t to my taste, and definitely cozy up to that fine line. I agree with you about the color. The BR ones also come in black suede I think.

    Parisienne Farmgirl – me too!

  5. Bonjour Madame – yes, I think the BR style in the pewter/bronze color would be a hands-down winner.

Duchesse – actually I look at them and think “cast-and-crutches-for-6-weeks!”

Nancy – the BR’s are definitely more classic, less rock-n-roll.

  6. maria – does that mean they’d look good on a drag queen? 😉

WendyB – somehow I knew you would. If anyone could wear those and make them look fabulous it would be you!

Imogen – sadly, I think neither would be compatible with orthotics. 😀

  7. Rita – I’ve known too many women who end up having bunion or other surgeries once they get to a certain age to make me want to push the threshold on heel heights. I’ll stick with my 3″ max (and only when I don’t have to walk much), thanks.

Belle – I beg to differ…there are lots of lovely flats and low-heel shoes that can be quite chic!

  8. Bunions and other problems don’t always come from wearing the wrong kind of shoes. Sometimes it’s just the type of foot structure you have, or if you have stretchy ligaments, as I have, then your feet start to come apart regardless of the type of shoes. I haven’t worn 3″ hells for 40+ years, and forget anything higher.
