Tuesday miscellany: the good sales, reader favorites & more…
My sister is en route to visit for a few days. I’ve warned her that there’s some furniture shopping on the agenda. 😆 She’ll be a good reality check on some of my crazier design impulses. While I’m waiting for her to arrive, I thought I’d share an outfit idea and a few picks from some of the sales currently on.
Classic casual in ivory
Here’s another Chanel-inspired look, this one in a neutral palette of ecru/ivory with pink accents. The clothes, bag, and earrings are all currently marked down.
I tried that sherpa lady jacket on and really liked it. It runs big so I’d suggest sizing down. If I hadn’t recently purchased the other sherpa jacket, I would have snapped this one up on sale.
This look above could work well for Springs or Autumns. If your seasonal palette is cool (Winter, Summer) I’d swap out the ecru for white jeans and jacket. Add some silver-toned earrings, a fun textured bag, and metallic footwear…
Cool palette options:
More sherpa-style jackets…(most on sale):

One to add to your reading list…
I finished this book a couple of weeks ago, and LOVED it, but have held off sharing it. Why? I knew I wanted to give it to my sister as a gift, and didn’t want to spoil the surprise.
I’m a Barbara Kingsolver fan from way back, and I have to say I think this is one of her best yet. Without giving away too much, she brings a modern twist to a Dickens classic. I’ve linked to it above, but would encourage you to purchase from your local independent bookstore if you can.

What a great post today – I say “Yes, Please” to all of the items.
I held off on reading Demon Copperhead because the premise was just so depressing. I’m glad I finally caved — Kingsolver is an amazing story teller. // I love the idea of bouncing ideas off your sister and accepting her input on some “crazy ideas.” I will say, however, that everyone in my family tried to talk me out of a purple sofa — but I loved it, I bought it, and it’s still my favorite thing in the house, 15 years later. Buy what you love!
I hope you have a wonderful visit with your sister and find furniture that will make you happy!
Sadly I dont read as much as I once did, but Barbara Kingslover was a favorite. This one is on my list!
I LOVED Demon Copperhead. Will search for more of her books, thanks for the tip.
Have a lovely time with your sister!
Best wishes,
Julie
Ouf, read Demon Copperhead a few weeks ago and found it tough going. But Dickens is always a bit much for me, too.
I loved “The Poisonwood Bible” so much that I purchased “The Bean Trees.” Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into the latter book so I eventually donated it. “Demon Copperhead” is available on my digital library app. I’ll probably borrow it.
