Vegas, baby!
Le monsieur and I are off to Vegas for a few days of R&R. He received an incredible offer in the mail a few weeks ago from one of the newer hotels which was just too good to resist, and makes the trip actually affordable. We leave tomorrow and come home on Wednesday.
Une femme isn’t much of a gambler. Sure, I’ll play the quarter poker machines and see how long I can make a roll of quarters last (my record is three days), but I’m far more interested in eating, shopping (window only this trip, as I’m saving up for something fabulous) and perhaps a spa visit. We’re planning to check out the new Crystals mall, enjoy a nice meal or two, and maybe take in a show. Probably a hand or twelve of blackjack will be played at some point.
If I cave on paying for internet–which is not free…they want you on the casino floor forking over your money, not surfing the net in your room–I’ll post some highlights from Sin City.

Marsi – thanks! yes, we ate at Bouchon last time and I’m lobbying to go back there again. *Amazing* oysters on the half!
You two have a fabulous trip. Waiting for all the highlights.
Bon Voyage!
If you can get in on short notice, try Daniel Boulud’s restaurant at an outdoor table at the Wynn.
Enjoy!
Including photos of boots?;) I’ve never been to Vegas. I can’t even believe it.
Enjoy. Went to Vegas a couple of years ago and had a ball. We’re not gamblers either but so much to do. Our 13 yo (at the time) even had a good time.
I hope you have fun in Vegas! It gets better all the time, doesn’t it?
Don’t you just love getaways a deux! Have a wonderful time!
Bon voyage! We are sneaking out of town next weekend after getting airfare to San Francisco that was so cheap we practically couldn’t afford NOT to go. These mid-winter sneaks are FUN, no?
Anyway.
I highly recommend Bouchon, which is Thomas Keller’s bistro in the Venetian. We have eaten at Bouchon in Yountville several times, and it’s divine. I think you’d enjoy it.
(Keller’s the French Laundry guy, if his name’s ringing a bell.)
Say hi to the CSI team for me!
Consider eating at Rosemary’s (not on the strip). Steak house and truly excellent excellent service. Great wine menu, excellent food. You won’t be disappointed.
Une – hope you and Monsieur have a fab time – enjoy!! (and will you let us in on the secret of the wonderful item you are saving for?!)X
have a fab trip.
we used to go several times a year when we lived in california. alas…since moving east 8 years ago, we’ve not indulged. we’ve not even ventured up to atlantic city.
play 13 15 and 24 on the wheel 🙂

Have fun! We went over Christmas and enjoyed it a lot. Looks like we’re returning in March for a show.
There are incredible deals right now, and air travel for us is easy from NM. That’s not something you can say for most destination spots.
I ‘d love to go to Vegas! lucky you. I stayed in a resort for 10 days over my holidays and the internet connection was $25 (Australian dollars) a day! Talk about expensive!
also I stayed at the Venetian in Macau in August 2009 (China) and the decor and fake canals were beyond funny. But the chain smoking indoors was less so.
