A colorful hoodie outfit for fall
I’ve been on the lookout for a colorful zipped hoodie for a while now, but didn’t want just another “top half of a track suit.” When I saw this one, it was a coup de foudre!
wearing: hooded jacket | tee (similar) | necklace | bracelet (similar) | jeans | sandals
I’m wearing size XS in the jacket, 26 in the jeans. Tee is a small, unfortunately no longer available in this color.
Yes, I’m “cheating” on my Spring palette just a little (many of the colors in this jacket land solidly in the Autumn palette). And the print definitely leans more into the Bohemian style personality. But I absolutely LOVE this print and the colors, which coordinate well with my wardrobe, so it’s a keeper.
This jacket is as comfortable as loungewear, but I’d wear it out for a casual dinner or date night styled like this. It’s a casual Hero Piece, easy to wear but makes a simple outfit more distinctive. The fabric weight is perfect for transitional season wear (or air-conditioned interiors, if it’s still hot where you are).
Here are few more wear-anywhere hoodies…

I love this, Susan! I would wear the hoodie and the tee in a heartbeat! Perfect for an autumn bohemian as well as a golden spring gamine!!
Thanks, Pam! These are your colors for sure!
Now that’s a HOODIE! Love it. IT is something I would wear, even thought Fla is so warm most of the time.Geat colors too!
Thanks, Susan! This is such a perfect weight for milder climates.
What a terrific jacket! I love it. And whether it is in your colour palette or whether you are a Boho type or not, it suits you so well.
I prefer it zipped up. Gives me the best view of the pattern.
Greetje
Thanks, Greetje! I love it zipped too, and will probably wear that way as a mid-layer when it gets cooler.
I love everything about the hoodie but the price!
You look fantastic in this. I usually don’t like hoodies, but this is something that certainly brings it up a few notches. I would have to pull out the pink tones with a top underneath to counteract the mustard, but worth a try. Love it.
Thanks, Diane! There are so many great colors in this print that you can pick up with a top or accessories.
This is absolute perfection on you, Susan!
Thank you, Kim!
You nailed it!
Thanks, Lizette!
I LOVE the jacket! And I think the cut alone puts it firmly in “gamine” territory. I love a good “hybrid” item.
Thanks so much, Lee! And I agree, the style is definitely in my Gamine wheelhouse.
You style like no one else. I love this and God will get you for making me lust after something I can’t afford, LOL
Thanks, Eve! 😉
You look great in this! I feel we should not box ourselves into a particular color palette, and you have proven this. If you like the colors and feel good in them wear them! I love a cozy hoodie. Most restaurants are kept so cold I always keep a jacket, sweater or hoodie that goes with my outfit in case we eat out when we go to “town”. Even though it is still near 100 degrees out most days.
Thank you, Jeanine. Here too, it’s often so chilly indoors.
That’s GORGEOUS! I have a bright pink turtleneck covered in large chrysanthemums and I always love putting it on. There’s something about a gorgeous print in colors that you love that can’t be beat.
Thanks so much, Lisa! I do remember that turtleneck, it’s fabulous.
OMG! I love the hoodie. You could wear it over a dress or layer it under something else when it gets cooler.
Just looking at the print makes me happy. Johnny Was is such a cool line.
Thanks, Maggie! I do love their prints and colors too.
Johnny Was does pattern so well–look at that perfect match at the closure. It’s worth splurging on an item that embodies joie de vivre!
Thanks, Nancy! I agree, and especially one that I’ll be able to wear often.
I agree with an earlier commenter that the shape, if not the print, suits a gamine. It looks amazing on you!
I’ve lusted after a Johnny Was kimono for years, but couldn’t justify the cost because it would be worn so infrequently, but a hoodie….The price is WAY beyond what I’ve spent on anything but shoes but I am very tempted! I really crave pattern, but rarely find one that thrills me. The listing says only “cotton and spandex”, could you share the percentages of each fiber?
Thanks Wendy! The fabric is 96% cotton/4% lycra.
That hoodie is purrfection on you!
Thanks, Christi!
Love the hoodie. I notice you’re wearing an xs. Does it true to size?
Thanks! I think it’s TTS with a relaxed fit. I’m glad I sized down.
Because of you, I bought this hoodie—as an Autumn, I LOVE the colors and it goes with so many of my tops! (The XS is perfect—I usually wear an S). Taking it to London on Thursday—will be perfect for cooler weather! Thank you!
That blue is a universally flattering color. You’ve pulled one of the better colors for you out of the print so it works perfectly. The print reads bohemian but the style–a hoodie–is more your gamine style than bohemian, I think, so again, it works.
Thanks, Susan! This is such a perfect weight for milder climates.
